Job Description

An experienced Business Development Manager to lead industrial work acquisition in Minnesota, focusing on market research, opportunity identification, client relationship development, and managing the full sales cycle from proposals to closing, based in Saint Michael, MN with up to 50% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with clients, engineers, and vendors to drive revenue growth and pursue market strategies.
  • Build and maintain the project pipeline by identifying new opportunities (projects or maintenance) through market research, networking, prospecting, and referrals.
  • Qualify leads to ensure alignment with the company sales plan and risk profile.
  • Foster and sustain relationships with key decision makers and project influencers.
  • Attend industry events and conferences to cultivate relationships and generate sales leads.
  • Research current industry trends and novel project approaches.
  • Employ consultative selling to understand client business and projects, delivering a tailored value proposition.
  • Schedule client meetings and presentations.
  • Manage the sales cycle from lead generation through proposals, presentations, contract negotiations, and client follow-up.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, estimating, risk management, safety, construction, and operations to support work acquisition.
  • Develop persuasive proposals and presentations aligned with client and project needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of client calls, meetings, and project opportunities.
  • Represent Lakehead Constructors professionally with clients, at events, with associations, and in the community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, construction management, engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 to 10+ years of experience in construction or industrial sales or business development.
  • Experience in construction or engineering with knowledge of heavy industrial, oil and gas, manufacturing, water treatment, power generation and delivery markets is preferred.
  • Knowledge of project delivery methods, contract types, and blueprints.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; editing in Adobe or Bluebeam.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and multitasking abilities with the capacity to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage potential clients individually and in groups.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% and to operate onsite in Saint Michael, MN.

Compensation

  • Salary: USD 105,000 - 125,000 per year
