Business Development Manager
Job Description
Own the growth pipeline for Valiant products by identifying opportunities, expanding market presence, and coordinating execution across customer and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Build and execute customized sales strategies for assigned target customer(s)
- Attend customer meetings and events to strengthen relationships and uncover technical and commercial expansion opportunities
- Run analyses to identify, validate, and prioritize new business opportunities for increased sales in new applications and peripheral markets
- Coordinate between customer engineers/representatives and Valiant internal departments to ensure customer specifications are accurately translated into product design
- Manage product and customer correspondence, including reports, presentations, meeting preparation, and travel logistics to support timely, complete communications
- Network and promote relationships with potential customers and distributors to surface specialty needs, market niches, and product trend information
- Attend industry events and trade conferences; set up sales presentations and exhibitions
- Create and deliver annual and quarterly business reviews and annual budget management presentations to track activity and commercial results, then adjust as needed
- Provide support and guidance to upper management on deal negotiations, contract development, due diligence, and other business or alliance development projects
- Follow company policies and procedures, including instructions provided by direct supervisory leaders
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business (or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience)
- Must have and maintain a valid State driver’s license
- Intermediate computer skills: MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Advanced project management skills
- Advanced negotiation skills
- Technical understanding of sub-surface artificial lift equipment and related areas: applications, production, operations, drilling, workover, well completions, and pressure build/transient IPR analysis
- Knowledge of traditional and non-traditional artificial lift markets, customers, and contract structures
- Advanced communication skills (oral and written), including ability to produce and present persuasive sales presentations
- Advanced relationship building, networking, customer interface capability, and customer service orientation
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Multi-cultural sensitivity and knowledge of protocol
- No supervisory responsibilities; close direction may be provided to assigned application engineers or other personnel
- Limited supervision: work is directed by a supervisor and reviewed periodically for quality and productivity compliance
- Physical demands include sitting majority of the time with walking and standing as needed, plus periodic lifting/carrying/pushing up to 40 lbs
- Ability to operate routine office equipment (telephone, copier, facsimile, calculator)
- Routinely work on computer for an average of 3-4 hours per day when necessary
- Work extended hours when required or requested by management
- Capable of regular, reliable, timely attendance
- Climate-controlled office environment with occasional outdoor work in sometimes inclement weather
Experience
- Minimum 5 years artificial lift technical and/or sales experience
- Business development: 5 years (Preferred)
- Sales: 5 years (Required)
Travel
- 50% (Preferred)
