Business Development Manager - Accessories
Job Description
The position centers on growing business and managing key accounts within the Bags and Accessories sector. Based in New York and on site, the role involves building strong customer relationships, coordinating design and development with the sales support team, and driving achievement of sales targets.
Responsibilities
- Identify and research local target customers within Bags and Accessories, including affordable brands and Purchasing Departments for Bags and Accessories across chain supermarkets, while analyzing local market trends.
- Develop long term, trust-based relationships with customers; recommend current fashion styles to meet annual or quarterly sales plans and maintain ongoing client contact.
- Handle inquiries from existing clients and new business prospects with professional and efficient service, meet tight deadlines, and actively pursue new sales opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with the sales support team (Designer, Purchasing, Supplier) to ensure product design, development, and samples align with client expectations regarding brand guidelines, target market, corporate identity, and selling strategy, while balancing commercial requirements and value.
- Maintain accurate, legible customer and project files; issue status reports on a regular basis (weekly and monthly) detailing progress, next actions, and responsibilities, including customer meeting reports, forecasts, prospect lists, and monthly sales reports.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounts Development Management within the Bags and Accessories industry or a similar fast paced sales environment, with solid product knowledge and an established network to source business information and identify customers and partners.
- Sales focused and customer oriented, with good listening skills and an action driven mindset.
- Track record of delivering quarterly and annual sales and margin targets.
- Strong negotiation abilities and commercial sense, plus excellent administration, communication, and interpersonal skills to monitor campaign progress.
- Responsible, efficient, capable of teamwork, and able to perform under pressure.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English; solid computer skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- College degree or higher, preferably in Marketing and/or Business Administration, Economics, or related discipline.
