Join a leading AmLaw 100 law firm that places a strong emphasis on client service and a collaborative, empathetic work environment. This hybrid role supports the Technology, Communications, Privacy and Security (TCPS) and Healthcare practice groups from a Washington, DC base (with optional alignment to Seattle) and offers meaningful opportunities to influence how partners connect with clients and expand business. You will work closely with Practice Group Chairs and colleagues across the firm to drive growth, elevate client experiences, and foster cross-team collaboration.

Compensation ranges by location: in Washington, DC, the annualized salary is $144,000 to $165,000; in Washington State, it is $134,000 to $156,000. Actual pay reflects experience and other job-related factors. In addition to salary, full-time colleagues may be eligible for a bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep, hands-on understanding of the TCPS and Healthcare practices, including services, clients, competitors, and related firm-wide connections to help lawyers network effectively.
  • Lead the creation of pitches, proposals, RFP responses, and other client presentations for TCPS and Healthcare.
  • Support lawyers in client relationship development, including prep for meetings, post-event follow-up, and identifying opportunities to expand work with new and existing clients.
  • Partner with the Events Team to plan, execute, and follow up on events, webinars, seminars, and conference sponsorships.
  • Monitor client, prospect, market, industry, and competitive trends for TCPS and Healthcare; translate insights into actionable plans such as new industry targeting or cross-selling opportunities with other practices.
  • Manage and draft submissions to legal directories and industry awards (eg, Chambers, Legal 500, and practice-based awards) for the TCPS and Healthcare groups.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop external collateral and refresh content on the firm’s website.
  • Maintain key practice group information in CRM and experience management systems, proactively soliciting and tracking contacts, activities, and experience.
  • Foster strong relationships with lawyers across the firm and support cross-group collaboration.
  • Support the broader BD team with ad hoc tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of business development or marketing experience within a law firm or professional services organization; demonstrated work supporting partners or practice groups in client development is required. Experience with technology, communications, and healthcare practices is preferred.
  • Ability to establish credibility with legal personnel at all levels of the firm.
  • Confident, tactful, patient, and persistent in approach.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to understand the firm’s mission, priorities, and market dynamics.
  • Strong commitment to client service.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Flexible, resourceful, and solutions-oriented.
  • Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with CRM platforms (DealCloud, Foundation, InterAction, or similar), plus experience using research tools to inform strategy.
  • Demonstrated initiative, follow-through, and creative thinking to implement best practices that enhance cross-selling and realization.
  • Ability to work independently and strengthen communications across practice groups, offices, and management.
  • Proven ability to drive business development from planning through execution and to collaborate with Practice Management, Marketing, external vendors, and consultants.
  • Some travel may be required.
