Business Development Representative
Job Description
The Business Development Representative builds and maintains referrals from professional sources to expand Mountain Laurel Recovery Center's service lines and levels of care. The role involves representing the facility publicly, hosting visits, and expanding referral networks across diverse account types.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement business development programs in consultation with the Director of Business Development (DBD).
- Maintain a schedule of primary referral sources, including business and industry contacts, EAPs, managed care organizations, physicians or licensed practitioners, and allied health professionals.
- Log every contact in the customer relationship management (CRM) system.
- Keep current account information and referral/admission records and statistics, and prepare business development reports and materials.
- Develop and sustain new account relationships and markets.
- Identify targets and develop strategies to grow business in highly competitive markets.
- Increase referral sources within the facility, including physicians, social workers, and discharge planners.
- Build strong relationships with key referral sources.
- Develop and maintain key business development accounts and respond to all business development opportunities.
- Provide customer support to a designated number of targeted referral source contacts per week, as defined in the quarterly marketing plan.
- Plan and conduct community workshops, seminars, and facility tours to educate clients, families, the community, and referral sources about programs, services, and amenities, identifying potential referral sources.
- Represent the facility at civic and professional events and communicate the facility's mission in outreach interactions.
- Serve as a liaison among the facility, referral sources, and the public to promote goals and maintain a professional image.
- Manage leads from referral sources and ensure a smooth admissions process for clients.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with the Admissions Department.
- Collaborate with discharge planners, social workers, case managers, physicians, management, and education staff to generate referrals.
- Maintain awareness of industry changes through ongoing education and community involvement for the benefit of the position and the facility.
- Attend scheduled department meetings to provide timely reports on month-end reviews, client servicing schedules, and other reporting requirements.
- Generate face-to-face meetings and admissions activity aligned with goals and document promptly in the CRM.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Behavioral Health, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
- Two or more years of experience in healthcare business development and marketing is preferred.
- Solid understanding of the local market and referral base.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, early mornings, and weekends.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, maintained auto insurance, and access to a vehicle as required by the facility.
