Job Description

The Business Development Specialist supports the creation and management of new sales and business development opportunities within an assigned Interior accounts portfolio. Working under Corporate Account Managers and Directors, the role focuses on execution, follow-up, and coordination to strengthen account performance while building product and account management capability for future progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Corporate Account Managers and Directors in driving revenue, margin, and retention outcomes for assigned accounts.
  • Help improve account performance through execution, follow-up, and support for opportunities.
  • Identify and qualify incremental growth opportunities in existing accounts and provide direct or indirect selling support to the account owner.
  • Support pipeline development through research, lead capture, and ideas for upsell or cross-sell.
  • Participate in early discovery conversations with target customers under manager or director guidance.
  • Develop foundational knowledge of core interiors products, pricing, and solutions, and understand how they align to key account programs.
  • Support relationship management for both large and small accounts.
  • Assist with customer requests, documentation, proposals, and issue resolution under supervision.
  • Maintain CRM hygiene by keeping notes, opportunities, contacts, and tasks current, and support opportunity tracking, reporting, and forecast preparation.
  • Learn account planning basics and account sales cycles.
  • Demonstrate strong organization, consistent follow-up, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Apply the sales process and internal tools consistently.
  • Actively seek feedback and coaching to develop toward an Account Manager role.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2-4 years of experience in sales, business development, account management, or a related business field; experience or coursework in textiles, healthcare, or hospitality is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Ability to learn and use customer relationship management (CRM) systems, including Salesforce, plus other internal sales tools.
  • Eagerness to learn and build knowledge of the interiors product portfolio.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
