Construction Estimator / Business Development Representative

Whitman Development Group is expanding across Hampton Roads and is hiring a Construction Estimator / Business Development Representative to help grow its presence onsite in Chesapeake, VA. This role combines estimating and customer-facing business development, with a competitive base salary plus commission on projects secured and uncapped earning potential tied to performance. If you have experience in construction estimating or project work and enjoy building relationships, this position offers the ability to pursue new opportunities while maintaining and growing existing client relationships. You will coordinate closely with project managers and office staff to support a smooth transition from estimate to project execution, representing the company professionally at client meetings and community visits.

Responsibilities

• Develop new business relationships with property management companies, HOAs, commercial property owners, and other organizations throughout Hampton Roads.
• Identify and pursue new construction opportunities with companies that are not currently clients of Whitman Development Group.
• Schedule and conduct site visits to evaluate roofing, doors, windows, concrete, and exterior repair projects.
• Perform field measurements and develop accurate project scopes.
• Prepare detailed construction estimates and proposals.
• Present proposals, answer client questions, and follow up to secure awarded projects.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with existing clients while continually expanding the customer base.
• Coordinate with project managers and office staff to ensure a smooth transition from estimate to project execution.
• Represent Whitman Development Group professionally at client meetings and community visits.

Requirements

• Experience preparing construction estimates or managing construction projects.
• Proven ability to develop new business relationships and generate leads.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
• Ability to read plans, perform field measurements, and prepare accurate estimates.
• Self-motivated with comfort working independently.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Experience working with property management companies, HOAs, commercial construction, or restoration is highly preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay: $40,956.55 - $62,979.36 per year

Compensation: Competitive base salary, commission on projects secured, and uncapped earning potential based on performance.
