Job Description

The Existing Business Sales Manager role in Irvine, CA, operates on a hybrid schedule and focuses on leading the local market sales strategy for the O500 Buyer Group. The position drives membership growth, retention, and earnings while upholding a strong Cigna brand. It supervises a team delivering consultative health, productivity, and security solutions, and collaborates with Client Management to integrate the Cigna product portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain full accountability for the performance of the sales organization.
  • Mentor individuals to support ongoing professional development.
  • Collaborate with staff to design and implement individual development action plans.
  • Guide the team in addressing their own development needs.
  • Oversee and contribute to the formulation of market specific sales plans.
  • Contribute to the creation and execution of local marketing strategies.
  • Build and sustain a robust intelligence capability through client/broker engagement and formal competitive analyses.
  • Lead the development and execution of the market strategy to meet the sales plan.
  • Drive sales and membership growth and maintain persistency goals.
  • Meet or exceed the earnings plan targets.
  • Ensure account development plans promote profitable growth and a fully integrated Cigna product portfolio.
  • Partner with Client Management and Client Strategy to maintain an integrated approach to account development and proactive service strategies.
  • Work with Client Managers to oversee renewals and presentations for assigned customers.
  • Develop and implement tactical plans to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Ensure timely completion of strategic planning activities.
  • Schedule regular meetings with staff, producers, and customers.
  • Complete all reporting requirements on time.
  • Monitor key metrics and dashboards to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 8 years of industry related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in sales experience.
  • Sales management experience preferred, including recruitment, selection, and development of new sales representatives.
  • Strong knowledge of the sales management process to develop and execute account penetration strategies with Sales and Account Management teams.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills, including public speaking and presentation abilities.
  • Proven ability to lead a sales team and develop staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to support strong sales growth results.
  • Enjoys hard work and seeks challenges; able to act and react with limited information.
  • Not afraid to take charge of a situation.
  • Capable of overcoming resistance to leadership and taking principled stands when necessary.
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, highly competitive industry environment.
  • Communicates optimism and confidence in the future.
  • Proven experience building a competitive sales force and leading a multidisciplinary team of professionals.
