Retail Sales Manager
Job Description
Charlie's Produce is seeking a Retail Sales Manager to lead sales initiatives on site in Anchorage, AK. The role focuses on setting and achieving sales targets, delegating tasks, mentoring the sales team, and expanding market share within the retail produce sector. Strong people-management skills and expertise in retail operations and produce are essential.
Responsibilities
- Maintain current, practical knowledge of all markets and growing conditions affecting our products.
- Identify target market segments and develop business plans to secure new business.
- Coach and train a team of sales representatives and merchandisers.
- Oversee team performance and goals by modeling excellence, remaining accessible, and fostering a culture of teamwork and personal accountability.
- Present profitable programs to prospective and current customers.
- Collaborate with buyers, operations, and sales support to convey customer needs and preferences.
- Organize and assist with special sales campaigns and promotions.
- Lead regular team meetings.
- Conduct daily warehouse product checks.
- Prepare and manage the department budgets.
- Attend all relevant sales meetings, as applicable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of people management experience in a sales environment.
- Extensive knowledge of retail and produce.
- Extensive knowledge of the Anchorage market.
- Familiarity with principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.
- Understanding of principles and processes for providing customer service.
- Strong communication skills to interact with all levels of management internally and externally.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor with the team, the public, and other personnel while performing duties.
- Ability to work independently and through others to drive results.
- Adaptability and flexibility to respond quickly to changing requirements while maintaining clear communication.
- Critical thinking to evaluate strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and approaches.
- Physical ability to climb, push/pull, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods as required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Valid driving record with proof of insurance.
- Ability to work flexible hours and up to 50 percent travel.
