Sales Manager
Job Description
Lake Norman Marina is hiring a hands-on Sales Manager to lead the daily sales operating rhythm and drive growth in a premium marine dealership. This is a customer-focused leadership role built around strong relationships, consistent sales process, and a team culture that stays intact while discipline, accountability, and execution improve.
Compensation: $145,000 to $185,000 per year (competitive base plus performance-based incentives). Full compensation, benefits, and eligible boating-lifestyle privileges will be reviewed during the hiring process. This role is in person in Sherrills Ford, NC.
What you’ll do
- Run the daily sales operating rhythm and stay actively involved with customers and the full deal journey, including sales consults, demos, sea trials, trade conversations, and deal support.
- Ensure consistent execution of the Lake Norman Marina sales process and maintain CRM discipline from first inquiry through delivery and ownership follow-up.
- Coach the team through daily opportunity reviews, save-a-deal meetings, role-play, product training, onboarding, and individual development.
- Deliver approved goals for unit volume, revenue, gross margin, lead conversion, appointments, demos, quotes, deposits, and deliveries.
- Improve performance on aged inventory and inventory turns using product training, customer matching, and unit-specific action plans.
- Partner closely with F&I by reinforcing financing early in the customer conversation, monitoring penetration and products, and cross-training as the backup F&I manager.
- Protect a premium customer experience by resolving concerns across departments and ensuring a professional delivery and ownership handoff.
- Re-engage past and orphaned customers and build new sales opportunities from service, storage, marina, boat club, referrals, events, and the Lake Norman community.
- Support leadership planning by translating growth goals into practical monthly, weekly, and daily actions.
What you bring
- Proven sales leadership in marine, RV, powersports, automotive, luxury retail, or another high-ticket consultative sales environment, with premium marine experience preferred.
- A documented record of improving sales process execution, CRM discipline, lead conversion, gross margin, coaching, and team accountability.
- Experience managing aged inventory and guiding a team to sell value rather than relying only on discounting.
- Strong customer judgment and the ability to handle complex or emotionally charged situations professionally.
- Working knowledge of F&I, finance handoffs, and product penetration, plus the willingness and ability to cross-train as a backup F&I resource.
- High product curiosity and the ability to become an expert in premium boat brands, technology, customer lifestyles, and Lake Norman boating use cases.
- A visible, humble, hands-on leadership style, with clear comfort in a non-office-only role.
- The ability to enter an existing team, earn trust, protect the culture, and create clarity without unnecessary disruption.
Success looks like
- The team follows a clear process, CRM information stays current, and next steps are visible.
- Performance improves versus the approved plan across volume, gross margin, conversion, customer follow-up, and inventory turns.
- The existing team is retained, coached, and developed while accountability and consistency increase.
- Customers receive responsive communication, professional demos and deliveries, and seamless coordination across the business.
- Past customers and relationships from service, storage, marina, and boat club become repeatable sources of qualified sales opportunities.
- The Sales Manager balances strategic thinking with hands-on work beside the team.
Benefits
- 401(k) matching
- Flexible spending account
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
