Sales Manager
Job Description
Sales Manager, Eastern U.S. is a remote role based in the New York/New Jersey area, responsible for driving sales growth across the Eastern United States with a strong focus on the New York/New Jersey market.
Territory & Market Focus
- Lead sales growth across the U.S. East Coast, with an emphasis on the New York/New Jersey market.
- Manage distributor, broker, and direct customer relationships across relevant retail, grocery, food service, and other customer channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage relationships with distributors, brokers, and direct customers, serving as a trusted commercial partner and proactively resolving customer issues.
- Own and achieve the annual sales budget for distributors and direct customers in the territory.
- Plan, manage, and execute the annual Trade Promotion Calendar and Trade Spend Budget.
- Ensure inventory management effectiveness by minimizing out-of-stocks and avoiding overstocking at distributor and customer levels.
- Manage compliance with Distributor Agreements, including pricing, terms, and execution standards.
- Coordinate and support execution of marketing programs, promotions, and new product launches.
- Conduct regular market visits to improve product distribution, shelf placement, merchandising, and brand visibility.
- Maintain effective communication with Chinese-speaking distributors, brokers, and customers to support relationship management, negotiations, issue resolution, and execution.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers across distributor, broker, retail, grocery, food service, and other relevant channels.
- Create monthly sales forecasts, business performance reviews, and inventory reports.
- Provide weekly sales updates summarizing market visits, customer activity, and key opportunities and issues.
- Contribute to annual budget development and long-term strategic planning.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports, project updates, and presentations as needed.
- Monitor and analyze market, competitive, pricing, promotional, and new product activity within the Food & Beverage/FMCG sector.
- Translate insights into actionable recommendations and share them with Sales and Marketing to guide strategy and execution.
- Identify new business, channel, and distribution opportunities to expand sales networks.
- Identify opportunities to increase distribution, improve retail execution, and strengthen brand presence across the territory.
- Develop recommendations using customer feedback, market observations, competitive activity, and sales performance.
Requirements
- 5+ years of field sales experience in the FMCG, grocery, and/or Food & Beverage industry.
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-state territories and working directly with customers, distributors, and/or brokers.
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), with ability to conduct business discussions, negotiations, presentations, and relationship management in both languages.
- Experience supporting trade promotions, retail execution, and new product launches.
- Strong business acumen with a demonstrated ability to drive results and meet sales objectives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage internal and external stakeholders and build business relationships.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with sound professional judgment.
- High attention to detail, with effective time and priority management.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Ability to work independently while managing a large geographic territory and collaborating cross-functionally.
- Reliable transportation for travel in the assigned territory and ability to transport others as required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
- Ability to travel domestically and occasionally to Canada for business purposes.
- Must meet company travel and driving requirements, including maintaining a satisfactory driving record where permitted by law.

Remote Work Environment
- Remote role based in the New York/New Jersey area.
- Work primarily from a professional home office, with proximity to key customers, distributors, airports, and transportation hubs.
- Regular collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and North American headquarters, with the ability to work independently across a broad geographic territory.
Working Hours
- Some scheduling flexibility, with general availability expected during core business hours of 9:00 am to 5:30 pm (EST).
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on business needs, customer demands, or travel schedules.
Travel Requirements
- Up to 50% travel across the assigned Eastern U.S. territory for customer and distributor meetings, market visits, retail execution, trade events, and business development.
- Primarily regional travel, with potential overnight trips depending on business priorities and market opportunities.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $80,000 to $90,000 USD per year + discretionary bonus (based on individual and company performance).
- Final compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
