Job Description

What you’ll do

As a sales leader and category subject matter expert, you will lead and manage a team of Account Executives and Territory Sales Representatives to deliver revenue and margin goals within the designated region. You will direct and coordinate sales functions to drive maximum sales volume and profitability.

  • Execute the annual sales strategy for your assigned product category and region.
  • Spend 70% of your time in the field coaching team members, driving programs, nurturing existing key relationships, and developing new OrePac customer relationships.
  • Maintain a regular cadence of ride-alongs and check-ins to help build and manage a strong pipeline and ensure accurate forecasts for bookings, revenue, and sales initiatives.
  • Provide product management by staying current on category trends and overseeing new product implementation.
  • Develop and present strategic sales proposals.
  • Adopt and support sales tools and platforms, initiatives, and programs focused on improving sales efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop sales plans, marketing strategies, and promotions to meet assigned targets identified in the annual business plan (3 to 5 work objectives).
  • Set distribution policies using market research, and support operations on delivery routes by territory.
  • Build customer partnership strategies and review them quarterly to target and grow incremental business.
  • Establish gross margin levels and manage profitability by product line, including pricing strategies and maintaining updated price books.
  • Provide strategic customer engagement such as product knowledge training, facility tours, roadshows, and events.
  • Maintain and build key vendor relationships with local personnel.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for sales communication with the OrePac corporate office.
  • Play a key role in budget planning, forecasting, and accountability.

Safety and compliance responsibilities

  • Lead and promote a culture of safety within the branch and ensure adherence to the OrePac safety program.
  • Report incidents and accidents to your immediate supervisor immediately or within 24 hours.
  • Maintain the work area in a safe and healthful condition and report, and whenever possible correct, unsafe working conditions.
  • Operate vehicles safely and lawfully while performing job duties.
  • Provide assistance to reduce or eliminate workplace hazards.
  • Comply with company drug testing policies and procedures.
  • Comply with PPE policies (OrePac provides required PPE).

Schedule and work setting

  • Full-time (40 hours per week), with overtime as needed.
  • Monday to Friday, day shift.
  • Work in a professional office environment and onsite at customer locations and jobsites; travel throughout the sales region up to 70%.

Requirements

  • Travel throughout the sales region up to 70% of the time.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant sales leadership roles and industry experience.
  • Ability to lead teams, including handling personnel conflicts while driving department initiatives and goals.
  • Ability to coach and mentor staff, model effective work habits, and clearly communicate direction and expectations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, including writing routine reports and speaking effectively to employees, customers, and leadership.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with effective stress management under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) or aptitude to learn.
  • Commitment to high ethical standards and professional interactions.
  • Strong customer service orientation, interpersonal skills, and teamwork.
  • Strong reading and interpretation skills, solid math skills (basic algebra), and aptitude to build industry knowledge in a given market.
  • Knowledge base in building materials specific to the assigned product categories is required.
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills, negotiation ability, and listening and persuasion skills to reach compromise.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in any field.

Physical demands

  • Regularly required to see, talk, and hear, including close vision and peripheral vision.
  • Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
  • Occasionally required to lift, move, and manipulate up to 50 lbs, and team lift/move/manipulate up to 100 lbs.
  • Occasionally required to bend, reach, and climb tall ladders and stairs.
