SurfacePrep is hiring a Sales Manager to lead a team of outside sales professionals serving industrial manufacturing customers across Michigan. Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop outside sales representatives across Michigan with ongoing mentoring, field support, and performance coaching.
- Execute strategic sales plans to drive revenue growth, profitability, and market share expansion, including identifying new business opportunities.
- Work alongside reps on key customer relationships, major account opportunities, contract negotiations, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Conduct regular customer visits, ride-alongs, and territory reviews to strengthen engagement and improve sales effectiveness.
- Use sales performance data, pipeline activity, and market trends to guide decisions and maximize territory potential.
- Ensure effective CRM utilization, forecasting, and opportunity management across the team.
- Collaborate with operations, customer service, marketing, product management, and supplier partners to support exceptional customer experiences.
- Recruit, onboard, and develop sales talent while building a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 5+ years of industrial B2B sales experience.
- 3+ years of sales leadership or team management experience.
- Experience selling into manufacturing and related industrial markets such as metalworking, automotive, aerospace, fabrication, or similar.
- Proven ability to drive sales growth and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong business acumen, relationship-building, and communication skills.
- Experience using CRM platforms and sales analytics.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout Michigan.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with industrial abrasives, blasting, mass finishing, paint/powder, surface preparation, or related products.
- Knowledge of Michigan’s manufacturing and industrial markets.
- Experience managing strategic or national accounts.
Travel requirements
This role requires approximately 50%–70% travel throughout Michigan and surrounding territories to support customer relationships, business development efforts, and sales growth initiatives.
