Senior Account Director Business Development (Biotech)
Job Description
The Senior Account Director, Business Development Biotech at Thermo Fisher Scientific in North Carolina leads strategic sales initiatives to maximize revenue from global biotech key accounts, aligning with client strategies and identifying market opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans for assigned accounts and translate strategy into actionable programs to drive performance.
- Establish and sustain durable relationships with key clients, engaging senior leaders across Procurement, R&D, vendor management, and strategic outsourcing.
- Drive revenue growth for Biotech key accounts during Phase II and III by identifying opportunities to expand market share, tailoring plans for target global accounts, assessing satisfaction, and pursuing portfolio development and new business opportunities.
- CRO sales experience in Phase II and III is preferred.
- Develop proposals and responses to RFIs to win preferred provider opportunities, leading RFP processes, negotiations, and delivering profitable solutions that meet customer needs.
- Partner with internal teams to champion business direction and implement changes needed to win and retain key accounts, aligning with cross-functional partners to enhance client experience.
- Monitor and report sales performance by preparing regular updates on business development activities and results for senior leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, sales, or related field; MBA or advanced degree is desirable.
- Minimum 5 years of experience, with a strong preference for clinical business development and key account management in pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device sales.
- Experience in global sales with a diverse account base.
- Familiarity with the environment supporting drug development through commercialization and understanding of common customer needs in this field.
- Awareness of regulatory landscape, including regulatory bodies, compliance requirements, and changes in regulations to address client concerns.
- Proven track record of success in similar roles with measurable results.
- Strong customer relationship management abilities to reach mutually beneficial resolutions.
- Commercial acumen to identify and develop sales leads, present capabilities, navigate the sales process, and close deals.
- Strong business intuition and critical thinking to translate strategies into profitability and growth.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to multitask and meet outcomes.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex data and deliver actionable, executive-level insights and presentations.

- Proficiency with CRM systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
