Job Description

In this role, you will lead strategic partnerships and external innovation efforts to accelerate the development and adoption of next-generation cell culture solutions, while creating long-term growth opportunities for the business. You will provide executive partnership leadership across the full lifecycle, from technology scouting and scientific diligence to structuring agreements and supporting commercialization.

Strategic Partnerships and External Innovation

  • Lead strategic partnerships and external innovation initiatives that advance the development and adoption of next-generation cell culture solutions and expand divisional long-term growth opportunities.
  • Provide executive-level partnership leadership by building and maintaining relationships with leaders across global organizations.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of external innovation partnerships that deliver measurable value to the organization.
  • Drive licensing opportunities and strategic alliances that accelerate commercialization of innovation and strengthen market position.
  • Support corporate development activities by evaluating potential partnerships.
  • Manage strategic alliance relationships to ensure alignment with business objectives.

Technology Scouting, Build-Buy-Partner Influence, and Diligence

  • Lead technology scouting initiatives to identify emerging opportunities and influence build-buy-partner decisions.
  • Conduct rigorous scientific diligence on potential partnerships, technologies, and investment opportunities.
  • Translate external market insights and partnership opportunities into actionable business recommendations to influence long-term strategy.

Agreement Structuring and Commercialization Enablement

  • Structure and negotiate complex partnership agreements, licensing deals, and strategic alliance frameworks.
  • Lead cross-functional evaluation and integration of external innovation across R&D, commercial, legal, and operations.
  • Champion commercialization of innovation through strategic partnerships and alliance management.
  • Drive network growth measured by the number of successful partnerships, adoption of innovation cell culture solutions, and commercial supply agreements.

Advisory Role to Executive Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on partnership strategy, market trends, and competitive positioning.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Life Sciences, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in strategic partnerships, business development, or corporate development within the life sciences or biotech industry.
  • Proven track record building and managing complex strategic partnerships and alliances.
  • Demonstrated success commercializing innovation through partnerships and licensing agreements.
  • Deep expertise in technology scouting, due diligence, and external innovation strategy.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to influence long-term organizational strategy.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and executive presence with executive stakeholders.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Scientific acumen to evaluate technical opportunities and conduct scientific diligence.
  • Track record translating partnerships into measurable business outcomes and competitive advantage.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including demonstrated success driving revenue growth through partnerships.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 30%).

Compensation and Bonus

Estimated salary range in Massachusetts: USD 192,700–289,000 per year.

This position may also be eligible for a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results, in accordance with company policy.
