Job Description

The Automotive Sales Manager role onsite in Portland, Oregon, oversees the sales function at Dick Hannah Volkswagen Hyundai of Portland, focusing on maximizing customer retention and profitability through deal closures and financing, while recruiting, training, and supervising sales staff and upholding a customer-centered, 'Believe in Nice' culture.

Responsibilities

  • Structure vehicle deals and manage customer contracts.
  • Ensure all contract paperwork is accurate and compliant.
  • Obtain bank financing approvals for deals.
  • Make necessary corrections and process resignations when required.
  • Take full responsibility for delays in funding.
  • Hire sales personnel.
  • Develop and deliver sales training for staff.
  • Motivate and energize the sales team.
  • Coach individual sales staff to improve performance.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the sales team.
  • Build and maintain a strong, effective sales team.
  • Understand and stay in compliance with federal, state, and local sales regulations.
  • Keep current with applicable laws and regulations affecting sales.
  • Ensure ongoing regulatory compliance within the sales function.
  • Assist each salesperson in setting realistic monthly targets and provide support to reach them.
  • Develop and implement a system for prospecting and sales control.
  • Maintain and refine the prospecting and sales control framework.
  • Lead daily sales meetings and weekly sales meetings.
  • Foster clear communication within the sales department and with other teams.
  • Ensure sales staff follow dealership policies and procedures.
  • Manage and sustain high ratings in customer reviews.

Benefits

  • Base compensation: $2,000 per month plus 3% of the sales department gross profit; expected annual earnings of $175,000 or more.
  • PTO accrual of 4 hours per pay period, totaling about 96 hours in the first year.
