Job Description

Optimized Investment Partners, LLC is seeking a remote-based Business Development Coordinator to help build the firm’s new business pipeline with public agencies. In this role you will coordinate outbound outreach and scheduling to support senior advisors and lay groundwork for licensing. This position blends research, organization, and professional communication in a fully remote environment.

Responsibilities

  • Outbound calls and emails to prospective agencies to schedule introductory meetings — strictly scheduling, never discussing specific investment strategies or account terms.
  • Following up with prospects typically already in the pipeline to confirm logistics, answer basic questions, and re-engage stalled conversations.
  • Researching prospective agencies to identify the right decision-makers and gauge fit.
  • Keeping pipeline and contact records accurate and up to date.
  • Identifying the right people to reach — City Managers, Finance Directors, Finance Managers, General Managers, and the boards or councils they answer to.
  • Figuring out who really drives the decision at each agency — the person or group with the authority to bring on an advisor — so outreach focuses on the right people.
  • Noting whether the agency already works with an investment advisor.
  • Spotting warm-introduction or referral opportunities through nearby agencies or OIP's existing relationships.
  • Growth Path (based on demonstrated trust, no fixed timeline): May take on light qualifying conversations with prospects — confirming basic facts like timing, budget cycle, and who else is involved in a decision — strictly factual and administrative, never investment advice or negotiation.
  • Continues to hand off any in-depth advisory conversation, negotiation, or close to senior leadership.
  • Long-Term Path — Full Business Development Officer (performance-based, no fixed timeline): For a Coordinator who consistently delivers, OIP is prepared to invest in your growth — including sponsoring your Series 65 licensing — and open a path into a senior, full-cycle business development role: presenting to, negotiating with, and closing new agency relationships directly, and earning commission on top of your base salary.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in an outbound, appointment-setting, customer-service, or similar role is preferred and an important plus — it doesn’t need to be sales-specific. Strong, motivated candidates earlier in their career, including recent grads, are encouraged to apply.
  • Comfortable making outbound calls and sending emails to people who don’t know OIP yet, and handling a polite "not interested" or "call me later" without getting rattled.
  • Strong organizational skills — this role lives in the CRM and the calendar, and accuracy there is critical to keeping the pipeline reliable.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication.
  • Comfort digging into basic agency information (a website, a public agenda, a staff directory) to find the right contact — this role involves real research, not just dialing.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with accountability for defined weekly activity targets, even without close supervision.
  • Pacific time zone strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools or sales tracking systems.
  • Comfortable and genuinely practiced using AI/LLM tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, and similar) as everyday working tools for drafting outreach emails, researching prospects, and prepping talking points before scheduling calls.
  • Must pass a standard employment background check and be authorized to work in the United States.

About the role

Join a California-based investment advisory firm that helps public agencies, including cities and special districts, optimize revenue from existing cash while maintaining safety, liquidity, and compliance. Optimized Investment Partners combines cash flow modeling, optimized laddering, and active cash management to deliver measurable results. As the Business Development Coordinator, you will drive the firm’s new-business pipeline by researching and identifying promising public agencies, reaching out to open doors with new prospects, and sustaining momentum with those in the pipeline. You will work with experienced investment advisors who lead substantive discussions on investment strategy, terms, and negotiation, while you focus on relationship-building and ongoing outreach. Targeted municipal lead lists and marketing resources will support your efforts.

Structure

  • Core Function (from Day 1, ongoing): Outbound calls and emails to prospective agencies to schedule introductory meetings — strictly scheduling, never discussing specific investment strategies or account terms.
  • Following up with prospects typically already in the pipeline to confirm logistics, answer basic questions, and re-engage stalled conversations.
  • Researching prospective agencies to identify the right decision-makers and gauge fit.
  • Keeping pipeline and contact records accurate and up to date.
  • Long-Term Path — Full Business Development Officer (performance-based, no fixed timeline): For a Coordinator who consistently delivers, the firm is prepared to sponsor Series 65 licensing and offer a path into a senior, full-cycle business development role with commission upside.

Agency & Prospect Research

  • Before outreach, perform quick homework on the agency to ensure a targeted outreach.
  • Identify the right contacts — City Managers, Finance Directors, Finance Managers, General Managers, and the boards or councils they answer to.
  • Determine the true decision-maker responsible for bringing on an advisor, so outreach focuses on the right people.
  • Note whether the agency already works with an investment advisor.
  • Identify warm-introduction or referral opportunities through nearby agencies or OIP relationships.

Compensation

  • Base salary: $58,000–$70,000/year (DOE).
  • Per-appointment bonus: $100 for each qualified introductory meeting that is actually completed.
  • Lead-closed bonus: $500 when a prospect signs as an OIP client.
  • Compensation reviews at 30/60/90 days with potential raises; Long-Term Path shifts to base-plus-commission with higher upside.

Why join OIP?

  • Collaborate with experienced municipal finance professionals and help public agencies optimize outcomes.
  • Opportunity for advancement as the firm grows.
  • Optimized Investment Partners is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on protected characteristics.
