The Director of Business Development leads and supports the Strategic Business Unit’s growth efforts in the DOE and NNSA tier 2 market, shaping objectives, strategies, and campaigns, and representing the organization with customers and partners. This senior role requires a bachelor’s degree and extensive business development experience.
Compensation
Salary: USD 100,000 - 160,000 per year.

Responsibilities
- Lead business development efforts, aligning workloads, priorities, and schedules to ensure timely, effective work and monitor staff performance.
- Collaborate with SBEs General Managers and others inside and outside the organization to shape BD objectives, strategies, and plans for the SBU/SBE.
- participate in planning for future development and growth of the SBU.
- Prepare SBU/SBE BD plans and present them for review and approval at the SBE, SBU, or corporate levels.
- Explore and assess teaming agreements, joint ventures, acquisitions, and asset sales.
- Engage in long-range planning aimed at identifying new business targets and proposals.
- Develop and implement effective BD campaigns to win new business or expand sales with current customers.
- Maintain and grow an active list of BD contacts.
- Ensure the proposal office operates effectively and that BD responsibilities, authorities, and accountabilities are understood across the SBU.
- Participate in the proposal preparation process, defining strategies, themes, discriminators, and format.
- Identify cost, resource, and schedule requirements for proposals.
- Build and maintain a database on competitors and potential teaming partners, including capabilities, cost information, and business strategies.
- Track, monitor, and report on submitted and pending bids and upcoming opportunities.
- Assess lost bids and recommend actions to improve the SBU's win rate.
- Report on BD results, issues, and concerns.
- Represent the organization in relations with customers, teaming partners, competitors, government agencies, professional bodies, and community groups.
- Ensure all BD activities comply with internal policies, practices, laws, and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; 15 years of progressive BD experience; strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of government contracting, customers, and the proposal process.
- Articulate with executive presence; forward-looking, clear thinker and decision-maker; capable of driving change with a proven BD track record.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Travel may be required.
- Ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance may be required.
