Business Development Manager-Automotive Aftermarket (Wheels & Accessories)
Job Description
The Wheel Group is hiring a Business Development Manager for an outside, territory-based role in New Jersey. This position focuses on generating new business through field prospecting, cold calling, customer visits, and account expansion across the automotive aftermarket wheels, tires, and accessories market.
Key Responsibilities
- Spend most of your time in the field prospecting, cold calling, and visiting prospective customers to generate new business opportunities.
- Conduct back-to-back sales calls and customer visits across the assigned territory to maintain an active pipeline of new opportunities.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new customer leads using networking, referrals, cold calling, and in-person prospecting.
- Own the full sales cycle, from prospecting and qualifying through presenting, negotiating, and closing new business.
- Meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly activity goals, including customer visits, prospecting efforts, and new account acquisition.
- Create strategic territory plans to increase market penetration and support revenue growth.
- Build strong relationships with new customers while partnering with internal account teams to support long-term growth.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, including pipeline activity, customer visits, and sales forecasts.
- Research market trends, competitors, and growth opportunities within the territory.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to support a seamless customer experience.
Required Qualifications
- Experience selling wheels, tires, accessories, performance products, or other automotive aftermarket product lines.
- Experience calling on automotive retailers, distributors, dealers, warehouse distributors, or wholesale customers.
- Proven ability to prospect, cold call, and develop new business within an assigned territory.
- Proven ability to grow new business while building long-term customer relationships.
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to identify market opportunities and grow market share.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a field-based outside sales environment.
- Experience managing sales activity, customer information, and pipeline opportunities through a CRM.
