Job Description

Director of Business Development for Northrop Grumman Mission Systems MNX division, onsite in Linthicum Heights, MD, overseeing customer engagement, partnerships, and pipeline growth across domestic and international markets.

Responsibilities

  • Guide the team through fast changing, high stakes environments with evolving priorities and diverse stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with division leadership, Corporate Global Business Development Organization, and Communications to craft and implement customer engagement strategies and messaging aimed at strengthening relationships and expanding the sales pipeline.
  • Cultivate durable executive relationships across NG sectors, Corporate Customer Lead Executives, the Corporate Global Business Development Office, and the Corporate Legislative Affairs team.
  • Prepare division and sector leadership for customer interactions.
  • Act as the liaison for information flow between Corporate Government Relations and the Sector.
  • Coordinate and lead preparation for engagements with senior US Government and DoW officials, including office calls, site visits, trade shows, and teleconferences.
  • Ensure adherence to the Mission Systems Customer Engagement process across the sector.
  • Develop and sustain executive relationships to position the company as a trusted partner and solution provider.
  • Participate early in the acquisition lifecycle to capture customer needs, influence requirements, and position offerings for competitive advantage.
  • Translate customer insights to internal stakeholders to guide product development, R&D priorities, and strategic planning.
  • Engage customers to uncover needs, solutions, budgets, timelines, and competitor capabilities.
  • Contribute to global, regional, and country business plans, including multi-year sales and marketing/communication strategies to support the sector's financial targets.
  • Support relationship development for programs and represent the international customer perspective.
  • Proactively craft and implement plans to support export and releasability requirements.
  • Develop and lead strategies for global strategic partnerships aligned with sector pursuits.
  • Assist in preparing international customer LORs for P&As and LOAs, as well as RFIs and RFPs.
  • Operate as the primary liaison for international trade shows, conferences, and global customer visits to U.S. facilities.
  • Support capture and proposal activities, including prep, review, and the approval process, to improve win rates and sector growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM, business management, or international focus plus 10+ years of related experience in Defense Acquisition / Military / Business Development / Capture Management (8+ years with a Master’s).
  • At least five years of experience leading, developing, and motivating high performing teams.
  • Proven experience briefing at the executive level.
  • Deep customer domain knowledge with a track record of sustained business growth.
  • Strong understanding of defense acquisition processes and procurement cycles.
  • Demonstrated multi-disciplinary global business development and capture experience.
  • US citizenship with an active DoW Top Secret clearance.
