Director of Business Development - Construction Management Services West & Gas Engineering
Job Description
E2 Consulting Engineers is seeking a Director of Business Development for Construction Management Services West and Gas Engineering to expand the Oil and Gas and water infrastructure practice across the Western United States.
Role Overview
The director will drive growth initiatives for the Construction Management Services West and Gas Engineering practice, focusing on expanding client relationships, pursuing opportunities, and strengthening E2's market presence in the western region, including California, Nevada, Arizona, and Oregon.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of strategic growth plans across the Western U.S. market.
- Identify, pursue, and help secure new opportunities spanning engineering, program management, construction management, inspection, and field services support.
- Cultivate and sustain relationships with utilities, municipalities, operators, EPC firms, industrial clients, and strategic partners.
- Assist with proposal development, teaming strategies, client presentations, and contract pursuits.
- Coordinate with engineering, project delivery, and field services teams to align client needs with E2's full capabilities.
- Monitor upcoming capital programs, infrastructure investments, and regulatory-driven projects.
- Represent E2 at industry conferences, association events, and client meetings across the region.
- Expand E2's presence within Oil & Gas, utilities, water and wastewater, and industrial infrastructure markets.
- Maintain an opportunity pipeline, forecast, and CRM updates.
- Support strategic partnerships and regional expansion initiatives.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in business development or client management within engineering, utilities, oil and gas, water, or infrastructure sectors.
- Existing relationships in utility, energy, water, municipal, or industrial infrastructure markets are highly preferred.
- Solid understanding of engineering consulting, EPC delivery, utility capital programs, and infrastructure lifecycle projects.
- Proven track record of achieving business development targets and entering new markets.
- Proficiency in writing compelling RFI/SS/RFQ/RFP responses.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
- Proven ability to lead and collaborate in a fully remote setting with geographically dispersed teams.
- Experience pursuing pipelines, compressor stations, facilities, transmission/distribution systems, treatment plants, or related infrastructure is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of natural gas utility infrastructure and oil & gas facilities and pipeline projects.
- Experience with water and wastewater infrastructure and utility modernization programs.
- Background in EPC and owner’s engineer environments and multi-state client development.
Compensation
Salary range: USD 160,000 to 180,000 per year. Starting compensation will reflect skill, education, experience, and the work environment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Travel
Willingness to travel up to 100 percent within the Western U.S. to engage customers and partners.
