Events & Catering Sales Manager
Job Description
Meadowbrook Country Club is seeking an Events & Catering Sales Manager to lead private event sales, planning, and coordination while also supporting the Club’s member social events and programming. This role acts as the primary point of contact for private event inquiries and plays an active part in growing event revenue through thoughtful client management and coordinated execution with internal teams.
What you’ll do
- Serve as the primary point of contact for private event inquiries, including weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate events, holiday parties, banquets, celebrations, golf-related functions, and other special events.
- Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries by phone, email, website, and other lead sources.
- Conduct tours of Meadowbrook’s event spaces and present event and catering options to prospective clients.
- Prepare proposals, event packages, contracts, and other sales materials.
- Follow up consistently to convert inquiries and tours into booked events, maintaining clear communication throughout the sales process.
- Build relationships with clients, local businesses, event planners, vendors, and other referral sources.
- Maintain accurate records of event leads, bookings, contracts, deposits, and event details.
- Work toward established event sales and revenue goals.
- Manage booked events from contract through completion, serving as the primary client contact throughout planning.
- Partner closely with the Food & Beverage Director to coordinate menus, beverage service, pricing, staffing, room layouts, timelines, guest counts, setup requirements, rentals, and vendors.
- Ensure event information is communicated clearly to the Food & Beverage team, kitchen, management, golf staff, and other departments as needed.
- Prepare and distribute banquet event orders and other internal event documentation, and track deposits, payments, minimums, and other contractual requirements.
- Be present for events as needed to support proper setup and execution and address client needs.
- Conduct post-event follow-up when appropriate to encourage repeat business and referrals.
- Work with the Food & Beverage Director and Club leadership to develop and manage the annual member social calendar.
- Plan and coordinate member events such as Singo, trivia nights, President’s Ball, holiday celebrations, themed dinners, wine events, family activities, pool events, and other social programming.
- Develop new event concepts that support member participation and increase Club usage, coordinating details across Food & Beverage, Golf, Pool, and other departments.
- Assist with event promotion and member communication, and track attendance, revenue, expenses, and member participation to evaluate results.
- Gather member feedback and identify opportunities to improve social programming and create a welcoming, engaging environment.
- Review and update event brochures, catering menus, pricing, advertising, website content, event packages, and sales and marketing materials.
- Recommend improvements based on customer feedback, competitive offerings, sales results, and opportunities to strengthen Meadowbrook as a private event venue.
- Identify opportunities to improve how the Club packages, prices, presents, and sells its event and catering offerings, and support leadership in marketing event spaces and generating qualified leads.
- Help develop promotions, packages, partnerships, and referral initiatives to generate new event business.
- Monitor event inquiries, bookings, conversion rates, revenue, and other sales activity to assess the effectiveness of event sales efforts.
- Stay informed about local event trends, competing venues, and opportunities in the Richmond market, and proactively bring forward ideas to grow private event and catering revenue.
What you bring
- Previous experience in event sales, catering sales, hospitality, private clubs, hotels, restaurants, wedding venues, or event planning is preferred.
- Strong sales and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized approach with the ability to manage multiple events, deadlines, and clients simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Comfortable conducting tours, presenting event options, discussing pricing, and asking for the sale.
- Ability to think creatively about sales, marketing, promotions, and revenue-generating opportunities.
- Ability to work effectively with the Food & Beverage Director, culinary team, golf staff, management, and other Club departments.
- Professional, personable, and service-oriented mindset.
- Comfortable using event management, CRM, point-of-sale, and standard office software.
- Ability to work independently while following established Club policies, pricing, budgets, and management direction.
- Country club or private club experience is a plus, but not required.

Compensation and schedule
- $45,000–$50,000 annually, based on experience, plus event sales commission.
- Full-time role with a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the Club’s event calendar.
- Regular office and sales hours are also required for responding to inquiries, conducting tours, planning events, developing new business, and coordinating with clients and Club staff.
