Founding Sales Manager
Job Description
The Art of Medicine is looking for a Founding Sales Manager to build the sales function from the ground up. This remote role is hands-on by design: you will close deals directly, create the sales playbook and operating rhythm, and establish the systems, reporting, and leadership practices needed to scale revenue.
You will receive an estimated $150,000 annually in On Target Earnings, with additional earnings possible based on overall sales performance and company profitability.
Why this role is a strong fit
- Founding scope: shape how the sales organization runs from day one, including playbooks, infrastructure, and measurable performance.
- Hands-on impact: stay close to prospects, apply what you learn in the field, and lead by example.
- Support and resources: ensure the team has what it needs to succeed and feels backed by management while you coach on daily execution.
- Data visibility: build reporting and tracking to validate decisions and surface opportunities for leadership.
Responsibilities
- Hands-on selling: work prospects directly on the phones, persist through follow-ups, and close business. Identify trends and define best practices alongside the team.
- Build the sales team from scratch: define the roles and hiring plan needed to hit performance goals, including assessing talent, hiring, and onboarding across customer-facing positions.
- Create and refine the sales playbook: establish baseline processes, propose approaches, test them, and iterate for effectiveness and scalability.
- People management and accountability: manage performance and KPIs, hold the team accountable, and make hiring and firing decisions as the org scales.
- Coaching and daily monitoring: coach reps regularly to influence current behaviors and improve conversion, and ensure reps have the resources to succeed.
- Build infrastructure and reporting: stand up systems and tools to track what works even without a dedicated ops team or full tech stack. Use the numbers that matter and report clearly to leadership.
- Team communication and escalations: respond quickly to internal and external communication needs, deliver messages appropriately, maintain reliable partner-facing service, and handle sales escalations.
- Set goals and manage budgets: create clear team goals and outcomes, maintain a budget aligned with the value and ROI of the sales function, and support profitability.
