Healthcare Business Development Representative
Job Description
This part-time, field-based Healthcare Business Development Representative role supports a rapidly growing multi-location healthcare organization with practices across multiple states. In New York City, you will focus on building trust with local organizations surrounding established healthcare practices, using a relationship-driven approach that fits how these communities make decisions.
Working in a defined NYC territory, you will take direction from centralized support while handling outreach directly in the field, with the goal of creating measurable practice growth for local brands and identities.
Role & Territory
- Manage a defined NYC territory around several established healthcare practices.
- Visit targeted organizations and meet decision makers in person.
- Personally develop relationships with employers, office buildings, residential communities, schools, fitness and wellness organizations, professional offices, and other nearby organizations.
- Maintain work primarily on the road in New York, with field activity during normal weekday business hours.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships with HR leaders, business owners, office managers, property managers, and other local leaders.
- Follow up on outreach initiated by a centralized team and independently pursue high-value opportunities.
- Conduct additional phone, email, and in-person outreach when appropriate.
- Develop employer relationships, community partnerships, local events, and other opportunities that can generate measurable practice growth.
- Follow up persistently until there is a clear next step or a clear reason to move on.
- Keep simple, accurate records of contacts, conversations, opportunities, and follow-ups.
- Share direct feedback about what is happening in the market and where focus should go next.
- Operate within established guidance and ensure the work stays relationship-focused.
Note: This role is not street canvassing, promotional sampling, event staffing, or handing out flyers.
Schedule
- Approximately 15β20 hours per week initially, with flexibility in how the schedule is structured.
- Work Location: On the road.
Compensation
- $35β$40 per hour, depending on relevant experience.
- Approved local travel expenses will be reimbursed.
- Additional performance-based compensation may be available based on clearly defined business-development objectives.
- There may be an opportunity to expand the position substantially based on performance and mutual interest.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional sales, business development, healthcare outreach, account development, or closely related experience.
- Demonstrated ability to develop customers, accounts, referral relationships, partnerships, or other new business personally.
- This is not an entry-level role.
- Experience limited primarily to retail, restaurant service, administrative marketing, social media, event staffing, or promotional brand-ambassador work will generally not be sufficient.
- Polished, confident, and comfortable meeting new people.
- Ability to walk into an organization, quickly identify who matters, establish rapport, and create a reason for the conversation to continue.
- Persistent approach without being obnoxious; an unanswered email or voicemail should not automatically end outreach.
- Comfort working independently, including deciding which opportunities deserve additional effort.
- Enjoy developing business rather than administering a marketing program.
Relevant Experience
- Pharmaceutical or medical sales
- Healthcare business development
- Physician liaison or referral development
- Dental industry sales
- Outside B2B sales
- Territory sales
- Professional-services business development
- Other relationship-driven field sales

- Centralized support including target organizations, practice information, and marketing materials.
