New Business Development Director
Job Description
Lead the business development efforts to identify and close new customers, driving revenue growth and profitability for Cowan Systems.
Responsibilities
- Drive the end to end business development process to win new customers
- Establish credibility by understanding client business issues and presenting solutions that meet or exceed expectations while delivering value to Cowan
- Identify, qualify, and develop new opportunities through strategic prospecting and planning
- Assess prospective customers for financial solvency and long term viability, aligning with approved credit terms
- Respond to leads promptly with weekly face to face sales engagements
- Coordinate development of client solutions with Commercial and Operations leaders
- Craft, write, and present the value proposition for Cowan services to prospective customers
- Lead contract negotiations for new business opportunities
- Partner with the business implementation team to deploy client solutions
- Validate deals to ensure pricing standards and executional requirements cover accessorial details and can be implemented
- Manage ongoing account interactions to ensure realization of solutions, including receivables and performance monitoring during startup
- Ensure timely and accurate account management with the Customer Service team
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality in all duties
- Demonstrate behavior aligned with Cowan's core values at all times
- Remain on site at a Cowan facility as required
- Travel approximately 25 percent as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 5 years of truckload sales experience
- TMS experience is desired; TMW experience is preferred
- Excellent customer service, problem solving, and decision making skills
- Ability to develop working knowledge of all terminal operation aspects
- Travel may be required as dictated by customer or business needs
- Typically able to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, type on a keyboard, and speak on the phone; ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally

- Base salary of 90,000 USD per year plus commission
