Regional Sales Manager

What You’ll Do
- Lead a team to develop, implement, and execute a regional Market Back Plan that achieves the regional Budget.
- Drive channel development and downstream sales, maximizing sales potential through market awareness and investment.
- Maintain alignment between regional priorities and overall LP goals.
- Own regional performance that impacts profitability for non-operations factors, including distribution channel strategy across multiple LP businesses and product lines.
- Manage to a Regional EBIT target and SGA budgets.
- Deliver an annual forecast by product category and conduct quarterly reviews on forecast updates.
- Partner with owners, GMs, Sales, and Purchasing managers to set growth goal targets and negotiate pricing to maximize returns.
- Target demand and expand channels for SmartSide, EWP, Moulding, and Value Added OSB to achieve growth objectives.
- Analyze market segments including Single Family New Construction, Multi-Family, Repair and Remodel, and Non-Residential to maximize sales opportunities through improved market access (including procurement of stocking dealers) and broader builder usage.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and downstream partners (dealers and builders).
- Integrate field marketing, business marketing, and corporate marketing efforts to support Market Back Plan execution.
- Address channel conflict and ensure the regional sales team understands the business strategy and their role in achieving it.
- Serve as a product or market “Captain” within the LP sales organization and handle other duties as necessary.
Team Leadership and Talent Management
- Recruit, train, coach, lead, mentor, and manage a regional sales team (typically 8-12 employees) with the goal of building and maintaining a world-class team of sales professionals.
- Be accountable for talent recruitment and management, including a succession plan for the GSM’s.
- Provide internal communication on market conditions, resource needs, and the sales process tied to the Market Back Plan and Budget.
Qualifications
- 10 years of sales and/or marketing experience, including 5 years of people management experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the role’s key responsibilities.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with a history of internal networking across programs and the field information they generate.
- Knowledge of distributors, dealers, builders, and products within the assigned region.
- Knowledge of regional construction methods.
- Proven marketing and sales skills.
- Solid understanding of downstream market conditions, including market pricing and installation cost and practices.
- Strong analytical abilities, including experience providing sales propositions in financial terms and the ability to interpret financial statements.
- Experience developing business plans and successfully implementing them.
- Demonstrated experience recruiting, developing, and mentoring sales staff, with success measured by candidates moving upward in the organization.
