Job Description

Based onsite in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the Regional Sales Manager of Deli/Bakery oversees sales growth, labor efficiency, and operational excellence across regional Deli/Bakery locations. The role partners with operations leadership to meet standards and targets.

Responsibilities

  • Financial performance and sales growth: Direct regional Deli/Bakery departments to achieve budgeted sales, gross profit, labor, and shrink targets; monitor metrics such as sales and mix trends, labor productivity, food cost and shrink, and production efficiency; develop and execute strategies to grow revenue while safeguarding profitability and quality; ensure promotional and seasonal programs are implemented to drive incremental sales.
  • Leadership and operational direction: Set clear performance expectations for Store Managers and Deli/Bakery Managers; coach and develop Deli/Bakery Specialists and departmental leaders to strengthen execution and leadership capability; ensure consistent application of safety and sanitation, training and processing standards, pricing and displaying, merchandising, weights and tares, scanning accuracy, inventory control, and customer service.
  • Store execution and field leadership: Conduct regular store visits, at least weekly across the region, to assess department readiness and compliance; review hot and cold cases, bakery tables, grab-and-go, and meal solutions; identify operational gaps and implement corrective action plans with measurable follow-up; collaborate with District Managers to address staffing, leadership, and execution challenges.
  • Labor and food cost management: Drive disciplined labor scheduling and production planning aligned with sales volume; enhance food cost control by reducing overproduction, waste, and spoilage; coach department leaders on production forecasting and daily readiness routines.
  • Communication and alignment: Serve as a liaison between Operations leadership and store-level teams to ensure consistent communication and alignment; provide performance updates and actionable insights to the VP of Operations; promote a culture of accountability and proactive problem solving.
  • Training and talent development: Support hiring, onboarding, and development of Deli/Bakery Managers and key associates; coach leaders on improving customer service standards and team productivity; identify high-potential talent and support regional succession planning; reinforce training standards to ensure consistent execution across all stores.
  • Food safety, compliance, and brand protection: Ensure strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards across all locations; maintain consistent quality and presentation standards that protect the brand; address compliance or execution issues promptly and drive sustainable improvement.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience in grocery or retail environments, with preference for Deli, Bakery, or Food Service operations.
  • Solid knowledge of Deli and Bakery department operations and food safety standards.
  • Track record of analyzing performance metrics and implementing operational improvements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence and lead multi-unit store teams.
  • Commitment to developing leaders and enhancing customer experience.
