Job Description

This onsite position is based in Birmingham, AL and centers on expanding hospital-network opportunities within Abbott’s infectious disease diagnostics portfolio. Compensation ranges from $68,000 to $136,000 per year, dependent on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and engage accounts with no current business activity
  • Develop and implement territory strategies to generate leads, qualify prospects, and convert opportunities
  • Gain deep knowledge of the territory and use data tools to plan effectively
  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial outreach to contract close
  • Maintain up-to-date competitive product knowledge
  • Ensure opportunities originate within the defined territory
  • Conduct cold outreach to gain access in competitive accounts and generate interest with healthcare professionals and administrative stakeholders, presenting the value of infectious disease diagnostics
  • Open doors and position Abbott as the preferred diagnostic partner for point-of-care testing
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Technical Service, Finance, Contracts and Pricing to deliver a cohesive customer experience
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with distribution representatives in the territory
  • Work consistently with distribution partners to drive Abbott’s Infectious Disease portfolio
  • Oversee a successful account handoff after initial selling and coordinate with the local team to ensure smooth implementation

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4+ years of proven success in relevant sales experience
  • Track record of converting competitive leads from generation to close
  • Experience as an individual contributor with strong problem-solving, complex selling, planning, and execution skills
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned territory, approximately four days per week up to 50%
