Job Description

First Piedmont Corporation offers the opportunity to lead revenue growth from Chatham, VA (onsite). This Sales Director role combines team leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on territory engagement across a Business-to-Business environment, with an annual salary range of USD 84,300 - 122,600.

What you’ll own

As Sales Director, you will drive company revenue by building and executing strategic sales plans, leading the sales team, and managing key customer relationships. The position includes setting quotas, producing sales forecasts, and using market and performance insights to sharpen targeting and profitability. You will oversee four sales territories, with travel for customer meetings, trade shows, conferences, and industry events.

  • Provide leadership, motivation, and encouragement to the sales team to ensure quotas are met.
  • Deliver oversight, coaching, and performance management for sales representatives and staff.
  • Review and analyze sales and operational records and reports to guide decisions.
  • Use data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and identify potential markets.
  • Identify and analyze customer preferences to direct sales efforts effectively.
  • Assign territories, set quotas, and support each sales representative within assigned regions.
  • Consult with potential customers to understand needs and recommend equipment, products, or services.
  • Resolve customer complaints, staffing issues, and other obstacles that impact efficient sales operations.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop sales quotas and strategy.
  • Prepare the sales budget and monitor expenses, working to improve cost efficiency.
  • Represent the company at trade association meetings.
  • Travel as needed to support territory execution, face-to-face customer engagement, events, and team growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Team leadership and coaching

  • Manage, motivate, and encourage sales representatives and staff.
  • Conduct training and schedule up-training using a proven sales system.
  • Organize and oversee schedules, territories, and performance for sales representatives.
  • Complete timely, constructive performance evaluations.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field, or comparable experience in sales leadership.
  • 5+ years of sales experience.
  • 5-10+ years of leadership in a managerial or director role across multiple sites or territories.
  • Self-motivated approach with a track record of exceeding sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Experience in B2B sales, enterprise sales, or industry-specific sales.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using sales analytics tools and CRM software.
  • Experience managing sales operations, sales forecasting, and contract negotiations.
  • Strong leadership, mentorship, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Business acumen and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
