Business Development Manager
Job Description
Based in Birmingham, Alabama, Linde Gas US seeks a Business Development Manager to drive new opportunities in industrial gases and equipment across the East Region. The role partners with regional sales teams and relies on technical expertise to close deals, with a territory ideally anchored in Northern Georgia, Northern Alabama, or Eastern Tennessee and travel required for cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities by collaborating with regional sales teams and applying technical expertise across Linde's food technologies portfolio.
- Expand sales of industrial gases and equipment throughout the East Region using value-driven, consultative selling with limited supervision from the Director of Business Development.
- Focus on customers in chemicals and refining, energy and bio-industrials, and food & beverage, with a territory ideally anchored in Northern Georgia, Northern Alabama, or Eastern Tennessee.
- Drive territory growth through prospecting, lead generation and qualification, market strategy development, business case creation, pricing support, and oversight of project implementation and startup.
- Assess market trends, regional economic activity, competitive dynamics, and evolving industry needs to uncover opportunities and execute growth campaigns and customer communications.
- Track competitive activity and craft response strategies by understanding customer needs, financial drivers, operational impacts, and the value and differentiators of Linde’s technology.
- Develop and deepen relationships with customers, industry consultants, and vendors, coordinating with sales, R&D, applications, equipment, and customer service teams to leverage internal resources and align on strategy.
- Contribute to overall sales strategy with business development and key account teams; compensation includes base salary, commission, and a company car.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in mechanical, chemical, industrial, or related engineering disciplines.
- Minimum five years in relevant technical sales, including the ability to articulate the value of processing equipment, industrial gases, or related products that impact customer operations.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% within the assigned territory to support customer needs and business development.
- Proven track record of acquiring new customers, expanding existing accounts, and delivering results through resilience and strong execution.
- At least five years of sales or business development experience within the industrial gases industry.
- Experience supporting customers in chemicals, oil, energy & gas, and food industries, with knowledge of relevant applications and processes.
- Familiarity with industrial gas applications in food freezing and chilling processes, along with strong technical and engineering acumen.
- Strong commercial and business skills to build value-driven solutions and effectively position offerings in the market.
