BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Job Description
Business Development Manager role focused on growing strategic relationships across U.S. military divisions and supporting REDCOM’s sales and business development efforts.
Responsibilities
- Develop and nurture strategic relationships to build a channel for REDCOM solutions, including engagement with divisions of the U.S. military (US Army and Special Operations/Special Forces)
- Research industry events, publications, and announcements to identify and pursue new, viable business opportunities for one or more business segments
- Proactively arrange and drive technical exchange meetings, product demonstrations and evaluations, and technology integration activities to advance new opportunities
- Screen potential partnerships by evaluating market strategies, deal requirements, potential business models, and internal priorities
- Maintain industry knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, personal networking, and participation in professional organizations
- Support sales efforts by contributing to marketing literature and developing sales strategies and techniques for customer engagements
- Share industry intelligence across the company to raise overall team knowledge
- Assist with special projects tied to REDCOM markets as assigned
- Maintain accurate, timely sales opportunity status updates in designated systems of record
- Support responses to large, one-time business opportunities as appropriate and as needed
- Stay current on industry news and trends, products/services, competitors, and relevant information about legacy, existing, and emerging technologies, including product-line developments
- Complete special projects and perform other assigned duties
Requirements
- Significant, in-depth understanding of the U.S. Military gained through prior service of 8-10 years
- Experience in Special Forces and/or experience as a Commissioned Officer, NCO, or Warrant Officer (highly desired)
- 3-5 years of direct experience in the telecommunications/UC industry
- Advanced skills with spreadsheet and presentation applications
- Strong business acumen and organizational awareness
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations, clearly articulating highly technical concepts to varied audiences
- Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to positively encourage working relationships with employees, customers, vendors, and partners
- Self-directed research capability to identify both large and small-scale industry trends and opportunities
- Ability to produce business model documents and spreadsheets used to evaluate business opportunities
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
- BS in a technical field or BA in a business-related discipline
- Experience working with military, government, or first-responder industries, including understanding sales processes, techniques, and strategies for these markets
- Prior experience supporting and/or selling to the USA military and USA federal government (highly desirable)
- Experience using Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) and Federal Procurement Data System (FPDS) to research opportunities and develop contract implementation strategies
- Active secret clearance or the ability to obtain

Special Working Conditions
- Engineering, manufacturing, sales, support, and marketing teams are based at headquarters in Victor, NY
- May require extended work hours to meet project or customer requirements
- Travel required based on customer and business needs
- Travel estimate: 25-30% per quarter
- Must be able to travel without restriction within the United States and internationally
- May require leading or participating in off-hours telephone or video conference calls across time zones
Physical Requirements
- While performing duties, may be required to stand, reach, speak, hear, and maintain visual acuity for extended periods
- Ability to operate an approved motor vehicle
- Occasional trade show support, including some manual labor to set up and tear down a booth
Organizational Context

- Interact with program managers, business development, sales, purchasing, and management

Salary
- USD 82,750 - 93,750 per year
