Business Development Sales Manager
Job Description
PEZ Candy Inc is hiring a Business Development Sales Manager to lead U.S. growth for imported products across both food and non-food categories. This role works through broker and distributor networks as well as direct relationships, with a remote-friendly base in New York, NY and frequent travel.
In this position, you will build account strategies, present business plans tied to marketing programs, and use customer and consumer insights to uncover opportunities and manage risk. Travel is a core part of the role, including time at national trade shows and company meetings.
Role Focus
- Spearhead U.S. sales of imported products spanning food and non-food lines
- Sell through broker/distributor networks and direct relationships with national and regional chains
- Maintain a remote, flexible work location with on-the-road expectations
Responsibilities
- Travel 60-80%, including National Trade Shows and company meetings
- Analyze and manage controllable expenses such as travel, returns, and allowances
- Develop and deliver sales presentations and business reviews tied to marketing programs
- Complete ongoing business analytics and evaluate risks, opportunities, and threats
- Use product, category, customer, and consumer data to build selling presentations and provide recommendations
- Create and execute regularly updated account strategies and forecasting
- Complete administrative tasks that support account strategy
- Proactively communicate with all departments as required by projects
- Develop, train, and manage an effective broker network
Requirements
- 4-6 years of outside sales experience in consumer goods
- Prior relationships and experience calling on customers and distributors
- Experience with new product sales
- Experience calling on all classes of trade
- Previous regional sales management experience including broker management
- Strong record of meeting or exceeding sales revenue projections
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with customers, brokers, and internal partners
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry
- Experience in sales planning and forecasting
- Broker management experience
- Ability to manage trade spending
- Winning presentation skills
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to multitask
- Demonstrated ability to solve a variety of issues with a wide range of people
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
- Excellent written and oral communication
- BS/BA preferred
