Job Description

The Director Business Development (Brokerage) is responsible for driving new business growth and applicable expansion or renewal opportunities. This role coordinates the full sales cycle, partnering with internal teams to pursue deals with a clear strategy for pricing, service, value, and presentation.

Compensation

USD 100,000 - 115,000 per year

Role Summary

The Director Business Development - Brokerage leads the pursuit of new business and applicable expansion or renewal business. The position oversees the complete sales cycle, from lead generation and prospect qualification through cross-functional deal pursuit, including deal strategy, pricing, service, value proposition, and the presentation message and medium. This role carries responsibility for a sales quota.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead deal pursuit and coordinate end-to-end commercial execution.
  • Create deal and pricing strategy.
  • Develop a proposal plan of attack.
  • Prospect new brands and build an industry network to develop pipeline.
  • Explore cross-sell opportunities where applicable.
  • Negotiate contracts and close deals.
  • Provide continued commercial support on accounts closed by DBD.
  • Explore cross-selling opportunities for existing clients.
  • Complete further education on the vertical to support consultative selling.
  • Collaborate frequently with other SCS and DTS team members to win collective business for Ryder as a whole, including a cross-sell opportunity with SCS/DTS.
  • Adhere to Ryder’s Policies and Procedures, including the Travel and Expense Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Provide continued commercial support on accounts closed by DBD.
  • Explore cross-selling opportunities for existing clients.
  • Advance knowledge of the vertical to enable consultative selling.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related field.
  • Non-Commercial Driver License CLASS E.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business administration.
  • 5 years or more in selling supply chain solutions and/or achieving quota attainment more than 3 times within a 60-month period.
  • 5 years or more in sales experience: 3 years at quota and 2 years at 75% of quota.
