Regional Business Development Manager
Job Description
Regional Business Development Manager role focused on expanding Essency West region with wholesalers and contractors, delivering product training and technical support, and coordinating cross functional efforts.
Responsibilities
- Develop and nurture relationships with wholesalers, contractors, inspectors, building officials, facility managers, and other customer segments.
- Provide in person and virtual trainings to all customer types.
- Deliver best in class sales and technical customer support to keep customers satisfied and make doing business easy.
- Respond to inbound calls, emails, and chats; follow up on issues related to water heater equipment, connectivity, and related topics; document calls, installations, and product information.
- Offer field support to contractors as needed.
- Manage representative agency partnerships within the territory.
- Collaborate with management, office staff, and overseas teams to deliver top products and services in the water heating industry.
- Stay up to date on technical aspects of current and new products and on competitor solutions.
- Assess caller abilities and refer non service professionals to appropriate service providers while following warranty processes.
- Make warranty related decisions for water heating equipment.
- Provide specification information for prospective purchases, including size and related equipment based on end user needs.
- Match end users with qualified contractor partners.
- Support contractor partners and end users with processes to maximize value, including product registrations, promotions entries, device pairing, and more.
- Serve as the first point of contact for customers and prospects, communicating clearly and professionally.
- Create regular detailed reports and share findings with the team, addressing field issues quickly.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including travel to other regions.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of combined experience in technical support, engineering, customer service, outside/inside sales, operations, or logistics at a water heating appliance manufacturer or related HVAC/plumbing manufacturer.
- Highly organized with exceptional record keeping.
- 4 year degree in a related field.
- Prefer mechanically inclined individuals with prior plumbing or electrical experience.
- Experience in the trades is a plus.
- Understanding of design, function, installation, operation, and repair of electric, heat pump, tankless, combi boilers, solar water heaters; gas water heaters a plus.
- Preferred understanding of combustion and the environment where the water unit is located.
- Familiarity with National Fuel Gas Code, National Electrical Code, National Building Code, and ASME standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication, with solid troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
- Software and hardware proficiency, including keyboarding.
- Regular travel up to 80 percent, with slower seasons potentially 55–75 percent.
- 40 hour work week within business hours 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday; flexibility to support customer needs.
- 5-10 years experience preferred; less than 5 considered with a preferred 4 year degree.
- Engineering, Management, Manufacturing or related education preferred.

Compensation
- Salary: USD 100,000 – 108,000 per year
- Performance bonus opportunities
Location
- Remote role across the West region, based in Phoenix, AZ; covers WA, OR, CA, AZ primarily, with activity in ID, MT, WY, NV, UT.
