Job Description

The District Sales Manager position focuses on coaching and district execution to drive profitable planned case and gross profit growth. You will lead district meetings, reinforce measurable success metrics, and help your team continuously improve across technology, sales skills, soft skills, and product knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a culture of high performance across the district.
  • Coach and develop District Sales Representatives (DSRs) to achieve profitable planned case and gross profit growth.
  • Conduct one-on-one coaching and direction meetings with each DSR 3-5 times per week, including time for reflection on goals, objectives, and sales process areas to improve.
  • Lead and facilitate district meetings to educate, inspire, and drive fundamental behavior changes that support sales.
  • Reinforce team success metrics and communicate a vision for continuous improvement and success in your territory.
  • Use Sales Support resources (Business Development, Training, Sales Leadership) and related tools to maximize consultative time and process quality.
  • Provide coaching, training, and timely feedback to build consultative selling skills.
  • Use sales data tools such as the Looker System to access results, plan, and act on data-driven needs.
  • Fully leverage CRM (Zoho) to manage DSR sales planning, prospecting, and daily customer engagement.
  • Conduct and document 30/60/90-day reviews with DSRs, ensuring they understand sales learning goals and regularly review performance against those goals.
  • Champion company initiatives and implement strategies within the district.
  • Prioritize independent relationships with top customers and high-value potential customers.
  • Conduct efficient Business Reviews to improve connectivity with Nicholas and support the success needs of the business.
  • Support additional sales management responsibilities as needed, including operational duties and customer relationship management.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience growing profitable sales in food service or a similar industry.
  • Previous experience as a Sales Representative or Sales Manager, consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Experience working with transportation departments, including the ability to train DSRs on managing deliveries.
  • Experience evaluating market trends and recommending products based on customer business needs and goals.
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing daily and weekly reports, including special-order requests, customer bid process, and sales/gross profit margin data.
  • Experience prospecting new business, penetrating existing accounts, and minimizing lost business to achieve profitable sales growth and territory objectives.
  • Enthusiasm for participating in ongoing training sessions and the ability to attend general sales and district meetings.
  • Ability to answer customer questions about products, prices, availability, and product use.
  • Ability to project manage opportunities and initiatives strategically from beginning to end.
  • Ability to participate in company functions, promotions, customer visits, and customer events.
  • Ability to research customer business needs and develop a mix of products and service to meet those needs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot order-process issues (out of stock items, special order items, low inventory, etc.).
  • Experience working directly with credit departments and the ability to train DSRs to communicate and collect receivables when necessary.
  • Ability to complete administrative duties including preparing sales budgets and reports, maintaining sales records, processing credits and pick-up requests, preparing sales quotes and menu suggestions, and filing reports.
  • Understanding of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors’ products, prices, and sales.
  • Share information with customers as part of value-added services and train DSRs to do the same.

Schedule

Sunday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. This is a salaried position; the schedule may change due to business demands.

Compensation

$80,000 - $95,000 per year based on experience.
