Senior Manager of Business Development - Leveraged and Real Estate Finance and Restructuring
Job Description
Haynes and Boone, LLP is seeking a Senior Manager of Business Development to lead the firm’s Leveraged and Real Estate Finance and Restructuring initiatives from its Dallas, TX onsite office. The role combines strategic BD leadership with hands-on management of a marketing team to cultivate profitable new business from existing clients and targeted prospects across Leveraged Finance, Real Estate Finance, and Restructuring groups.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of marketing and business development strategies, plans, and projects on a national and international scale.
- Collaborate with lawyers to identify and evaluate new business opportunities and targets, facilitate cross-collaboration initiatives, participate on client-specific target teams, and support lawyers in maintaining the sales pipeline.
- Serve as the BD lead on firmwide initiatives and projects, working directly with firm management and presenting progress and results to leadership.
- Provide proactive guidance to lawyers on business development best practices, strategies, and techniques.
- Stay current on developments and trends affecting clients and prospects through proactive market research, and work with the Competitive Intelligence team to secure actionable market and industry intelligence.
- Manage, counsel, and mentor a dedicated team of marketing professionals supporting designated groups.
- Facilitate the successful integration of lateral partners into the firm, with a focus on target priorities.
- Identify opportunities to promote lawyers and clients through awards, recognition, and ranking opportunities in collaboration with section leadership.
- Oversee projects, events, RFP/RFI/proposal/pitch opportunities, deal tracking, directory submissions, and related activities, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Coordinate with Public Relations, Media, and Social Media teams to secure effective exposure for the practice groups and their lawyers.
- Develop and manage the group business development budgets for designated sections and offices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- 10+ years of marketing, business development, or related experience required

- Responsible for managing a specialist and an assistant.
Physical Demands
- Remains stationary at least 75% of the time, with potential to move around up to 100% when coordinating events.
- Regularly operates computers and other office productivity machines.
- Occasionally required to move documents or files weighing up to 15 lbs.
- Requires constant communication with firm lawyers, clients, and staff, and extensive screen time (approximately 80% of the time).
Working Conditions
- Office environment with frequent overtime beyond 40 hours per week.
- Occasional travel may be required.
