Job Description

Based onsite in Lenexa, Kansas, Premier Building Supply seeks a senior sales leader to direct growth across lumber, components, and other home building product lines. The position offers a yearly salary range of USD 110,000 to 165,000, requires a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of residential construction sales experience, and focuses on expanding market presence in the Kansas City area and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a financially sound growth plan aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Establish and deploy sales methodologies, business plans, and go to market strategies.
  • Set measurable targets that reflect organizational goals and values.
  • Evaluate sales effectiveness, methods, costs, and outcomes to drive ongoing optimization.
  • Develop plan-to-sell approaches and keep pricing and program documentation current.
  • Translate customer needs and market trends into product and process decisions.
  • Lead forecasting and manage the sales pipeline.
  • Acquire new builder accounts across single-family (custom and production), multifamily, and commercial sectors.
  • Pursue and secure select high-end project opportunities.
  • Increase market share among strategic statewide accounts and key builder segments.
  • Create and implement plans to penetrate and grow major strategic accounts.
  • Organize, lead, and oversee the sales team while coordinating with internal partners including the COO, Marketing, and Regional Sales leadership.
  • Hire, onboard, coach, and develop sales staff.
  • Participate in joint client calls and provide field coaching.
  • Model high performance and foster accountability within the sales team.
  • Create and oversee the sales budget in collaboration with executive leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic builders, subcontractors, and statewide accounts.
  • Lead sales presentations, negotiate contracts, and close new business deals.
  • Evaluate risk and steer complex negotiations toward profitable outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Five or more years of proven experience in the residential construction sector, with builder-specific background strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of and established relationships with local commercial, multifamily, custom and production builders, and subcontractors in the Kansas City region.
  • Proven leadership capacity with experience coaching, mentoring, and growing high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and structured, conceptual thinking.
  • Proven ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to assess risk and manage complex projects in fast-paced, high-pressure settings.
  • Strong intellectual rigor and disciplined execution mindset.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed across the Kansas City area.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently.
