Business Development Manager
Job Description
Sentrigard Metal Systems LLC is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive architectural promotion, specification-based sales, and profitability across a defined market. This onsite role in Ridgeland, SC emphasizes growing actionable specifications and profitable sales through proactive engagement with architects, builders, owners, and customers, leveraging technical expertise and collaboration with leadership to shape strategy and outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Identify design influences within the area of responsibility and develop a favorable and actionable specification position for the products with those design and/or developer firms.
- Collaborate with Sentrigard Business Development to create qualifying presentations that meet AIA CEU requirements or are proprietary to the Sentrigard system offering.
- Develop territory and sales plan with leadership to target key customers and prioritize sales activities.
- Conduct regular sales calls on the customer base to follow up on project proposals, program activity, service requirements, and Sentrigard performance.
- Qualify new and existing opportunities to determine revenue potential and follow up on project referrals from the Project & Product Specialist.
- Coordinate project quotations that are responsive and complete in partnership with the Project & Pricing Manager.
- Position products and services as a strategic advantage, clearly communicating value proposition and business drivers.
- Negotiate with customers to grow the business while maintaining margin targets.
- Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors’ offerings, pricing, and sales; report findings to leadership.
- Provide technical and specification support to customers, including budgetary pricing.
- Present product details through samples or catalogs and emphasize saleable features.
- Manage customer concerns fairly, promptly, and effectively.
- Contact customers with outstanding or past due accounts and engage in collection activities to bring the account current.
- Represent the company professionally with customers, employees, and suppliers.
- Complete and submit required sales activity reports, including expense accounts and account activity, in a timely manner.
- Maintain an active presence in industry-related trade associations and at community events of merit.
- Communicate and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Some overnight travel is required.
- Other duties as assigned by the VP, Sentrigard Distribution Sales.
Requirements
- College degree preferred.
- 2-4 years of sales experience, preferably in wholesale distribution, metal cladding manufacturing sales, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands
The role requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and driving for extended periods. Eye strain from reading materials and computer use is possible. Dexterity and eye-hand coordination are needed to operate a computer, with some climbing of stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and manual handling potentially required.
Travel Requirements
Frequent travel to customer and prospect locations; a valid government driver’s license and an acceptable driving record are required. Company vehicles must be properly registered, and continued employment may depend on maintaining driving eligibility.
Work Environment
This is a field-based role with regular travel across an assigned territory, including visits to customer offices, warehouses, and active job sites. Job site conditions may involve exposure to noise, dust, and dirt.
