Job Description
Hirose Electric USA is hiring a Business Development Manager to drive new business growth across defined territories and strengthen sales execution. Reporting into the Regional Sales Manager, this onsite role in New York, NY focuses on expanding revenue, building pipeline, and aligning local customer work with corporate sales direction for the New England, Metro NY, and Mid Atlantic regions.
The role combines territory leadership with customer-facing selling, proposal support, market research, and close coordination across global engineering and sales teams, along with ongoing collaboration with Hirose support functions to improve service outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Own new business development across the assigned geographic territory.
- Maintain close, ongoing communication with the Regional Sales Managers.
- Build and expand professional networks to identify new business opportunities.
- Drive performance against established goals, including sales goals, customer growth, pipeline build, and customer visits within the territory.
- Increase conversion dollars to surpass year-over-year targets.
- Lead direct selling for key opportunities, covering pricing, service, investment, risk, scheduling, and technical promotion issues to achieve successful design wins.
- Use market and competitor knowledge to develop selling propositions, differentiators, and targeted pursuit strategies.
- Collaborate with global engineering and sales teams to develop proposals and present products that meet customer requirements.
- Research and present market data to segment teams and identify new product development opportunities.
- Work with Hirose customer support roles (Field Application Engineer, Segment Managers, Inside Sales Managers, Customer Service Specialists, Technical Support Engineering, and Quality Engineering) to optimize customer service and outcomes.
- Create and deliver customized product presentations and identify key customer decision makers to build long-term relationships.
- Conduct or assist with product exhibitions (technical shows) at OEMs.
- Prepare and submit timely sales activity reporting, including monthly activity reports, visit reports, SalesForce updates, and product forecasting.
- Maintain the Hirose distributor registration program and manage quote activity within the assigned region.
- Ensure design registrations are processed in a timely manner and resolve any conflicts.
- Develop strong relationships with account managers at distribution branches and maintain visibility to position Hirose products as the connector of choice.
- Lead frequent opportunity reviews with Distributor Account Managers to drive accountability and participate directly in the largest revenue opportunities.
- Run buddy calls with channel sales teams to drive opportunities and identify areas of focus.
- Ensure sales opportunities are loaded and maintained in SalesForce.com.
- Identify, evaluate, and coordinate development of potential product lines with key accounts and future customers.
- Implement New Product Introduction (NPI) plans with Marketing, including target account identification, promotion schedule, samples, and pricing, while providing direct feedback to Hirose.
- Monitor the design process to meet commitment targets with customers.
- Track trends in customer industries to anticipate needs and position Hirose as a leader in the connector market.
- Interface with industry groups and standards committees when needed.
- Support accounts receivable by ensuring accounts are set up for timely payment.
- Build strong relationships with Hirose Japan personnel and assist with periodic customer visits by Japanese engineers and other Hirose personnel.
- Participate in collaborative teamwork within the HRS support groups.
- Complete tasks per ISO9001-2008 requirements when applicable.
- Provide additional reporting including rolling 12-month sales forecasts (domestic and international), Manager’s reports, Regional Program Updates (RPU), Distributor Quarterly Business Reports (QBR), Private Show updates, and CRM development information.
- Complete required reports and presentations on time.
Requirements
- BS/A degree in Business or Technical field required.
- Minimum of 5+ years sales experience.
- 5+ years sales experience in the electronic component industry required; interconnect experience is a plus.
- Technical knowledge to understand customer requirements and provide the appropriate HRS product solution.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent project management and above-average organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to work with external and internal customers across different cultures.
- Excellent presentation skills, including creating PowerPoint presentations.
- Ability to resolve issues and escalate in a timely fashion based on customer needs.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Salesforce.com.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong energy.
- Travel up to 40% of the time to distributor branches and customer R&D locations.
- Existing distributor relationships are a plus.

Work Conditions

Compensation
- USD 105,000 - 115,000 per year
