Job Description

This remote Business Development Manager role reports into the Sr. Regional Sales Manager and focuses on new business development, territory execution, and sales activity across multiple states covering the greater Cleveland, Ohio area. The position is responsible for building pipeline, increasing revenue, and implementing corporate directives to achieve territory goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive performance to exceed yearly territory sales goals.
  • Grow the number of Hirose customers, expand the sales pipeline, and increase conversion dollars to surpass year-over-year targets.
  • Own local distribution success, including growth in Point-of-Sale revenue (POS), new design registrations, design wins, existing customer penetration, and new account development.
  • Develop strategies and implement meeting plans to exceed quarterly meetings metrics, optimize customer satisfaction, and maximize revenue and profitability.
  • Partner with distribution sales and management to position Hirose by reviewing and driving relevant metrics, building partnerships, identifying opportunities, and making joint sales calls.
  • Identify, build, and expand relationships with distributors, manufacturer representatives, and key decision makers and influencers within the customer base.
  • Use selling approaches aligned to key value-add categories including technology, risk, service, investment, timing, and pricing to achieve successful design wins.
  • Collaborate with Hirose customer support roles (including Field Application Engineer, Segment Managers, Inside Sales Reps, Customer Service Specialists, Technical Support Engineering, and Quality Engineering) to optimize customer service.
  • Create and deliver customized, targeted product presentations.
  • Conduct frequent opportunity reviews with Distributor Account Managers to improve accountability and support insertion and involvement for the largest revenue potential opportunities and customers.
  • Maintain the distributor registration program, resolve related conflicts, and process registrations expeditiously.
  • Complete quote activities from beginning to end in a timely manner.
  • Support customers throughout development and production by maintaining communication with both customers and internal stakeholders regarding progress.
  • Manage and prioritize opportunities at all active and targeted accounts.
  • Serve as the leading Hirose expert on customer needs and industry direction, guiding Engineering, Product Management, and Marketing for future customer and market requirements.
  • Position Hirose as a key supplier for current and future opportunities at top customers, including establishing executive relationships for top-tier accounts.
  • Act as the interface for two-way communication between Hirose and customers.
  • Create, coordinate, and execute a global strategy for international accounts.
  • Follow Hirose sales policies, pricing guidelines, and best practices.
  • Build close working relationships with Hirose Japan personnel and assist with periodic customer visits by Japanese engineers and other Hirose personnel.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and work regularly with Segment Teams and Product Management for knowledge sharing and product fit determination.
  • Participate in self-improvement and professional development conversations with management and the team.
  • Identify, evaluate, and coordinate development of potential product lines with top accounts and prospective customers.
  • Provide direction and closed-loop feedback to implement New Product Introduction (NPI) plans with Marketing, including target account identification, promotion schedule, samples, and pricing.
  • Monitor the product development process to help the team meet customer commitments and milestones.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends to anticipate customer needs and interface with industry groups and standards committees as needed.
  • Record and maintain accurate data for customer meetings, projects, and opportunities within Salesforce.
  • Complete required reporting, including monthly forecasting, reports, and presentations by established deadlines.
  • Support management with organizational initiatives and deliverables, and provide input toward establishing yearly sales goals.
  • When applicable, complete assigned tasks per ISO9001-2008 requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • BS/A degree in Business or Technical field required.
  • 3+ years of outside sales experience in the electronic component industry required.
  • Technical knowledge to understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate Hirose product solutions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely across different cultures.
  • Excellent presentation skills, including the ability to create PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ability to resolve issues and escalate in a timely fashion to meet customer needs.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, and strong energy.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

Working Conditions

The work environment is a normal office setting with usually moderate noise levels.
