Job Description

Hirose Electric USA offers a career focused on building new business and expanding customer relationships across key regions in the Northeast. In this onsite role in New York, NY, you will report into the Regional Sales Manager and help drive growth initiatives, design wins, and strategic corporate directives across assigned territory (New England, Metro NY, and Mid Atlantic).

Compensation: USD 105,000 - 115,000 per year. Travel: up to 40% of the time to distributor branches and multiple customer R&D locations.

Responsibilities

  • Own new business development within the assigned geographic territory.
  • Maintain close, ongoing communication with the Regional Sales Managers.
  • Build and maintain a professional network to identify new business opportunities.
  • Meet established targets including sales goals, customer increase, pipeline build-up, and customer visits across the territory.
  • Increase conversion dollars and surpass year-over-year targets.
  • Lead direct selling strategy on key opportunities, covering pricing, service, investment, risk, scheduling, and technical promotion issues to achieve successful design wins.
  • Use market and competitor knowledge to develop selling propositions and differentiators.
  • Partner with global engineering and sales teams to develop proposals and present products that align with customer requirements.
  • Research and present market data to segment teams and uncover new product development opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Hirose customer support roles (Field Application Engineer, Segment Managers, Inside Sales Managers, Customer Service Specialists, Technical Support Engineering, Quality Engineering) to optimize service.
  • Create and deliver customized, targeted product presentations and effectively identify key customer decision makers.
  • Conduct or assist with product exhibitions (technical shows) at the OEM.
  • Submit timely sales activity reporting, including monthly activity reports, visit reports, Salesforce updates, and product forecasting.
  • Support local distribution success, including growth in POS, new design registrations, existing customer penetration, and new account development.
  • Maintain high visibility at branch locations to position Hirose products as the connector of choice.
  • Ensure opportunities are loaded and maintained on Salesforce.com.
  • Implement New Product Introduction (NPI) plans with Marketing, including target account identification, promotion schedule, samples and pricing, and provide feedback to Hirose.
  • Monitor the design process to meet customer commitment targets and continually track customer industry trends.
  • Interface with industry groups and standards committees, as necessary.
  • Work with Accounts Receivable to help ensure accounts are set up for timely payment.
  • Build close relationships with Hirose Japan personnel and assist with periodic customer visits by Japanese engineers and other Hirose personnel.
  • Complete tasks per ISO9001-2008 requirements, when applicable.
  • Prepare and submit additional reporting as required, including rolling 12-month sales forecast, Manager’s report, RPU’s, Distributor QBR’s, Private Show updates, and information supporting CRM database development.

Requirements

  • BS/A degree in Business or Technical field required.
  • 5+ years sales experience.
  • 5+ years sales experience in the electronic component industry required; interconnect experience is a plus.
  • Technical knowledge to understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate HRS product solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Above-average organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including clear communication across different cultures.
  • Strong presentation skills, including creating PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ability to resolve issues and escalate in a timely fashion to meet customer needs.
  • Computer literate and proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Salesforce.com.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong energy.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% to distributor branches and customer R&D locations.
  • Existing distributor relationships are a plus.
