Commercial Solar Business Development Manager
Job Description
IE Construction is seeking a Commercial Solar Business Development Manager to expand its commercial solar pipeline by identifying, developing, and closing new solar projects. The role is centered on building relationships across the commercial market, particularly with general contractors and EPC stakeholders, while meeting annual revenue targets of $3 to $5 million.
Role Overview
In this position, you will lead outside sales activities and business development efforts in the field to grow IE Construction’s commercial solar business. You will develop strategies, research the market, and coordinate with internal teams to support project delivery and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new opportunities in the commercial solar sector, with an emphasis on EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects.
- Conduct outside sales as a business development representative for more than 50% of the work schedule.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with general contractors, industry partners, and key stakeholders.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and market developments to identify strategic opportunities.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to meet annual revenue targets ranging from $3 to $5 million.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop sales materials and campaigns that communicate the value of IE Construction’s commercial solar solutions.
- Perform market research to identify potential clients, emerging trends, and competitive offerings.
- Establish and manage strategic partnerships with general contractors, developers, and other commercial solar industry stakeholders.
- Work with internal teams to support seamless project delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Serve as a liaison between the company and industry partners to foster strong, mutually beneficial relationships.
- Track and analyze sales performance against targets and provide regular updates to leadership.
- Prepare and deliver sales forecasts, reports, and presentations highlighting achievements and opportunities for improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven record of success in business development and sales within the commercial solar or renewable energy industry.
- Strong understanding of solar project development, EPC processes, and relevant industry regulations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated capability to negotiate and close deals with a focus on exceeding sales targets.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Compensation
- Base salary: $70,000 per year
- Commission: Competitive commission structure based on sales performance
- Pay range: From $70,000.00 per year
