Director of Business Development and Strategic Growth for TechChannel at MSP Communications focuses on revenue growth, strategic partnerships, and content monetization across digital, webinars, and events.
Responsibilities
- Own and surpass revenue targets across TechChannel branded content, digital media, and webinar programs.
- Expand current accounts and cultivate new opportunities within the IBM Z mainframe and Power Systems communities to grow the existing book of business.
- Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline, forecast accurately, and close high-value deals.
- Act as the primary contact for vendors, agencies, and solution providers; understand goals and map them to appropriate programs.
- Nurture long-term partnerships built on measurable results, responsiveness, and real value.
- Guide clients through content monetization strategies, including audience extension campaigns and lead generation programs.
- Develop and implement a strategic growth plan aligned with TechChannel's objectives.
- Analyze performance metrics, market trends, and audience insights to drive data-informed decisions.
- Identify emerging opportunities in the tech media landscape and position TechChannel to capitalize on them.
- Sell and package co-hosted webinars, digital sponsorships, branded content, and multi-channel campaigns.
- Collaborate with clients to align their thought leadership with TechChannel's credibility and engaged audience.
- Promote offerings such as premium audience retargeting, targeted email and LinkedIn programs to deliver ROI.
- Represent TechChannel at conferences, user groups, and within the IBM Power and IBM Z communities.
- Act as a brand ambassador, reinforcing TechChannel's authority and community-focused reputation.
- Acknowledge and support the contributions of the tech professionals and organizations in our audience.
- Collaborate with editorial, marketing, webinar, and creative teams to deliver programs that meet client goals while safeguarding editorial integrity.
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Publishing and Media Sales to refine strategy and report progress.
- Provide market feedback to inform product development and content planning.
Requirements
- 5 to 10+ years in publishing, media sales, or business development with a proven track record of driving revenue growth.
- Strong business development capabilities, including pipeline management, forecasting, and closing complex, high-value deals.
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills with the ability to earn trust at the decision-maker level.
- Strategic mindset paired with the drive to execute and deliver results.
- Comfort using performance data to inform recommendations and demonstrate ROI to clients.
