Director, RIA Business Development

InvestX is expanding its Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) distribution footprint across the U.S., and this role is built for a prospecting-first leader who thrives on building new relationships. If you enjoy turning research into conversations, moving opportunities forward with persistence, and contributing to RIA growth strategy from day one, this position offers a strong base package and the support of a cross-functional team.
This Remote (United States) role focuses on outbound business development for RIAs, generating qualified meetings and opportunities that progress through due diligence and approval. Compensation includes a competitive base salary plus incentive plan and equity, along with a comprehensive health and benefits plan.
Responsibilities
- Conduct high-volume outbound prospecting into RIAs across the U.S.
- Initiate relationships through cold calling, email outreach, and LinkedIn or other prospecting tools.
- Research target firms to identify key decision-makers including financial advisors, CIOs, investment teams, portfolio managers, and other stakeholders.
- Secure qualified introductory meetings and new opportunities for the RIA Business Development team.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective RIA relationships, ensuring ongoing engagement.
- Perform consistent follow-up to move prospects from initial outreach into active conversations.
- Maintain accurate prospecting activity, contacts, opportunities, and next steps in Salesforce.
- Use creative approaches to penetrate firms and reach decision-makers beyond traditional outbound outreach.
- Partner with the Head of RIA Business Development to prioritize target firms and execute the broader RIA growth strategy.
- Prepare prospect research, account intelligence, meeting materials, and follow-up documentation.
- Support opportunities through the lifecycle from introduction to due diligence and approval.
- Coordinate with teams across National Accounts, Compliance, Legal, Operations, Marketing, and Sales to keep opportunities moving.
- Track outstanding requirements, follow-ups, and next steps to maintain momentum across the sales process.
- Develop an understanding of each firm’s investment process, alternative investment requirements, and decision-making structure.
- Build relationships across the RIA ecosystem and strengthen knowledge of how RIAs evaluate private market investments.
- Monitor competitor activity, market developments, and advisor demand, and gather feedback to inform sales approach and product positioning.
- Represent InvestX at select industry events, conferences, and advisor meetings.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of sales, business development, wholesaling, lead generation, or distribution experience in wealth management, asset management, financial services, or alternative investments.
- Proven success with outbound prospecting, including cold calling and generating qualified sales opportunities.
- Comfort spending a significant portion of the day prospecting and speaking with new contacts.
- Strong “hunter” mindset focused on building relationships from scratch.
- Persistent and resilient, with an understanding that rejection and follow-up are part of business development.
- Confident communicator engaging financial advisors and senior investment professionals.
- Resourceful and curious, able to research firms, uncover opportunities, and identify the right path into an account.
- Motivated by measurable goals and results, with a competitive drive.
- Highly organized with strong CRM and pipeline management discipline.
- Self-directed and comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Collaborative approach, eager to learn from senior sales leadership while building toward greater account ownership.
Benefits
- Base salary range (2026): $130,000 - $160,000 USD per year plus incentive plan and equity

- Experience with private equity, private credit, venture capital, hedge funds, or other alternative investment products
- Experience with an asset manager, alternative investment manager, wealth management firm, or financial technology platform
- Familiarity with RIA due diligence and investment approval processes
- Experience using Salesforce and sales prospecting platforms
- FINRA Series 7 and 63 or willingness to obtain relevant licensing
