District Sales Manager
Job Description
As a District Sales Manager for Sysco in the Saugerties, NY area, you will help build a high-performance district focused on profitable planned case growth and gross profit (GP) growth. The role centers on coaching Sales Consultants, strengthening customer engagement, and using Sysco tools and processes to drive results through consultative selling.
What you’ll be doing
- Manage the performance and development of Sales Consultants (MAs) across the district.
- Conduct 3 to 5 Sales Consultant “work-withs” each week, providing one-on-one coaching and direction.
- Lead and facilitate Friday district meetings designed to educate, encourage key behavior changes, and support sales results.
- Direct Customer Engagement by enabling Sales Consultants to offer expanded service channel options, including technology enablers, value-added services, and team selling.
- Maintain a continuous improvement mindset across technology, sales skills, soft skills, and product knowledge.
- Use Sales Support resources and tools to maximize consultative time for Sales Consultants.
- Fully leverage Sysco tools and CRM to support sales planning, prospecting, and daily customer engagement, including productive utilization of Sysco 360 by Sales Consultants.
- Deliver Sysco brand results by managing conversion opportunities within the district.
- Support and promote national campaigns and promotions.
- Provide coaching, training, and timely feedback to develop consultative selling skills aligned with The Sysco Way to Sell.
- Use the CMP and QPP processes to coach sales colleague performance.
- Execute territory planning and management, including prioritizing relationships with top customers and high-value prospects.
- Champion company initiatives and implement center-led strategy in the district.
- Handle additional sales management responsibilities, including operational duties and customer relationship management.
What you bring
- High School education required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field (for example, business administration) or equivalent relevant industry experience.
- 2+ years of experience successfully growing profitable sales in the foodservice industry.
- 5+ years of foodservice sales experience is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to derive insights through probing questions and collaborative problem-solving.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to execute multiple initiatives independently.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to use Sysco’s proprietary CRM tool for planning and forecasting sales growth.
- Demonstrated mastery of consultative selling, marketing principles, prospecting, networking, coaching, and negotiations.
- Effective ability to coach, counsel, train, and direct associates, including supervising and motivating others.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Experience developing new business, penetrating existing accounts, and minimizing lost business to drive profitable sales growth and territory objectives.
- Ability to seek and qualify prospects under company account stratification goals.
- Capacity to research customer business needs, develop a mix of products and services, and evaluate market trends to recommend solutions.
- Knowledge of market conditions, product innovations, and competitor offerings to share value-added information with customers.
- Ability to answer questions about products, prices, availability, and product use, and provide practical product training to customer personnel.
- Ability to communicate and collect accounts receivable as necessary with the credit department, and support delivery routing schedule management.
- Ability to troubleshoot order process issues (for example, out-of-stock items, special order items, or low inventory).
- Participation in company functions, promotions, customer visits, and customer events; attendance at general sales and district meetings.
- Experience reviewing and analyzing daily and weekly reports, plus performance of administrative duties such as preparing sales budgets and quotes.
- Participation in ongoing training sessions and assistance with training new employees as requested.

Compensation: USD 97,400 - 146,200 per year. Location: Saugerties, NY (onsite).
