Estimator and Business Development

This role combines electrical estimating with business development for commercial projects in the greater Phoenix market. Based in Phoenix, AZ, the Estimator and Business Development professional supports project wins by producing accurate bids and proposals while building long-term client and stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project specifications, drawings, and related documents to define scope of work and required materials.
• Use estimating software and historical data to calculate project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.
• Develop clear, competitive bids that satisfy client requirements and support company profitability goals.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to obtain information needed to maintain estimate accuracy.
• Prepare project proposals that outline scope of work, pricing, timelines, and deliverables.
• Present proposals to clients and participate in negotiations to help secure contracts.
• Respond to client questions and provide clarification on pricing and project details as needed.
• Perform cost analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for value engineering.
• Assess alternative materials, methods, and solutions to improve efficiency while maintaining required quality.
• Partner with project teams to implement cost-effective strategies that maximize profitability.
• Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and proposal documentation.
• Create reports summarizing project cost, profitability, and performance metrics.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives and financial goals.
• Attend job walks, client office meetings, and networking events across the greater Phoenix area.
• Build relationships with stakeholders throughout Arizona to support both future and current opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical estimating for construction projects, with a focus on commercial work.
• Working knowledge of electrical materials and typical means and methods.
• Understanding of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret technical documents and drawings.
• High attention to detail and accuracy when estimating project costs.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience and Tools

• Construction estimating: 2 years (preferred).
• Microsoft Office: 5 years (preferred).
• Estimating software and Microsoft Office.

Compensation and Work Details

• Job type: Full-time
• Salary: USD 60,000 to 80,000 per year
