Job Description

The Bank of Southside Virginia is seeking a Senior Branch Leader – Business Development Specialist to steer growth, profitability, and community visibility from an on-site location in Dinwiddie County, VA. This role combines strategic business development, relationship management, and leadership excellence to expand the bank’s consumer and small business client base while mentoring branch leaders and teams. The position emphasizes hands-on community engagement and proactive outreach to build lasting partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new customer relationships in collaboration with the Business Development team, branch officers, and community partners.
  • Engage with branch officers and community partners to advance opportunities.
  • Implement a proactive outreach program that includes business development calls to both new and existing customers.
  • Drive market growth in deposits and loans while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of consumer and small business lending.
  • Deepen existing relationships through regular follow-up, needs discovery, and aligning solutions.
  • Act as a visible bank ambassador by participating in about 40 hours of bank-sponsored community events each year.
  • Join and actively participate in local community clubs or chambers of commerce and identify strategic partnership opportunities.
  • Support financial literacy and outreach initiatives; recommend sponsorships aligned with local market needs.
  • Lead market execution aligned to organizational goals while coaching and developing branch teams and subordinate leaders.
  • Support performance management, career development, and succession readiness; recommend promotions based on performance.
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new Branch Leaders, reinforcing consistent expectations and follow-through.
  • Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while maintaining strong service and sales discipline.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of bank products and services; build team capability to identify needs and recommend appropriate solutions.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership success in retail banking, business development, and relationship management.
  • Proven ability to execute outbound calling and prospecting strategies and deliver measurable growth.
  • Strong working knowledge of consumer and small business lending fundamentals.
  • Commitment to community engagement and brand representation.
  • At least 3 years of retail banking in a management role.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: From $65,000 per year
  • Competitive base salary
  • Incentive/Bonus eligibility: dependent on performance
