Job Description

In Plymouth, Michigan, Kyocera AVX’s Interconnects team is looking for a Technical Sales Manager to drive growth across commercial, industrial, medical, and Hi-Rel connector segments. This on-site role combines hands-on technical depth with field sales, delivering capability presentations and demonstrations to OEMs, distribution partners, and third-party reps to promote Kyocera-AVX connector products and secure new business.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve or surpass annual sales targets while maintaining strong gross margins.
  • Develop and execute a personal technical sales plan that maximizes time in the territory.
  • Track, monitor, and report on the status of projects and design activities.
  • Build and strengthen long-term relationships with customers.
  • Provide product training for sales representatives and distribution teams.
  • Stay current with the latest electronic components and connector technology trends.
  • Expand market share and identify new avenues for growth and expansion.
  • Collaborate with Kyocera-AVX account managers, distribution partners, and OEM customers to develop solutions.
  • Assess customer application requirements and coordinate with Development Engineering on feasibility.
  • Support the development of product and program implementation plans.
  • Actively drive product application development activities.

Requirements

  • A 4-year degree or equivalent work experience is required, preferably in a STEM field.
  • Mechanical or electrical engineering experience or aptitude is required.
  • At least five years of experience in technical marketing or sales, ideally with electrical components, plus knowledge of plastics, metals, and plating materials.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills at both channel and customer levels.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Ability to work independently while following guidance from Sales Leadership.
  • Willingness to travel 50 percent or more within the Americas; infrequent international travel may be required.
  • Ability to understand and analyze designs provided by customers and the channel.
  • Experience in public speaking and conducting sales presentations.
