Job Description
DOCA Boston is hiring a Business Development Manager to expand relationships and generate qualified opportunities across the AEC and real estate communities in the Boston/Brookline area. This is an onsite, highly external role focused on building pipeline and moving projects from early introduction through design, proposal, negotiation, and close.
Working across Greater Boston and New England, you will identify upcoming residential and mixed-use work, connect with architects and developers, and represent DOCA professionally in the market to drive activity and revenue.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new relationships with architects, interior designers, developers, custom home builders, general contractors, owners, and other AEC professionals.
- Identify upcoming residential, multifamily, hospitality, mixed-use, renovation, and related projects where DOCA products can be specified.
- Build and manage a consistent pipeline of qualified projects and prospective customers across Greater Boston and New England.
- Generate new business using outbound prospecting, industry relationships, referrals, networking, email, phone, LinkedIn, and in-person meetings.
- Schedule and conduct showroom meetings and product presentations with prospective clients and industry partners.
- Develop long-term specification and referral relationships with architecture, interior design, development, and construction firms.
- Build connections with key decision-makers and influencers within target firms and accounts.
- Attend industry events, networking functions, project openings, conferences, and other opportunities to increase DOCA visibility.
- Track market activity to spot new developments, renovations, and construction projects.
- Partner with DOCA design and showroom teams to move opportunities from introduction through design, proposal, negotiation, and close.
- Maintain accurate account, contact, opportunity, and follow-up information in the company CRM.
- Consistently follow up with prospects and maintain relationships through longer project and construction cycles.
- Grow existing accounts to drive repeat projects, referrals, and introductions.
- Represent DOCA professionally within Boston’s architecture, design, development, and construction communities.
- Meet and exceed established pipeline, activity, and revenue goals.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of sales or business development experience within the AEC industry.
- Demonstrated experience selling to and developing relationships with AEC decision-makers including architects, interior designers, developers, general contractors, builders, owners, or similar roles.
- Proven ability to prospect and independently generate new business.
- A track record of converting relationships into qualified opportunities and revenue.
- Understanding of the AEC project lifecycle and how products are evaluated, specified, purchased, and incorporated.
- Strong presentation, communication, networking, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to engage senior-level decision-makers and represent a premium brand.
- Strong organization to manage multiple relationships and opportunities across the sales cycle.
- Experience using CRM and sales pipeline management tools.
Preferred Experience
- Established network of relationships within the Greater Boston/New England AEC community.
- Experience selling architectural products, building products, kitchens, cabinetry, appliances, surfaces, fixtures, furniture, interiors, or other design-oriented products.
- Experience working with architects and interior designers to get products considered or specified during the design process.
- Experience selling into high-end residential, multifamily, hospitality, or luxury development projects.
- Strong interest in architecture, interiors, real estate, construction, and design.
