Business Development Manager - Strategic Sector Initiatives (India)

Houston, TX (Onsite) with a mission focused on regulatory impact and industry engagement. In this Business Development Manager role for India, AMPP helps drive adoption of AMPP standards and certifications, strengthens political and institutional relationships tied to corrosion control, and expands collaboration across Energy, Maritime, Water & Civil Infrastructure initiatives. You will help shape engagement that connects regulators, asset owners, EPCs, and standards committees to support asset integrity and long-term performance.

Responsibilities

• Drive regulatory adoption of AMPP standards and mandates for AMPP certifications by major asset owners in India
• Build relationships with Government Ministries and Regulators including BIS, PNGRB, and OISD, alongside asset owners and EPCs
• Lead specification and certification adoption conversations and support the specification review and adoption process
• Track regulatory developments relevant to AMPP and participate in regulatory and high-level meetings
• Host standards development international committees and recruit members for AMPP committees
• Drive Maritime, Energy, and Water & Civil Infra initiatives, strengthening engagement across sectors and related initiatives
• Develop and support sectoral conferences with institutional partners, AMPP chapters, and stakeholders, including joint technical sessions, standards awareness initiatives, and event marketing
• Execute engagement strategies and partnerships with institutions, chapters, and other stakeholders, including promotional support for corporate membership
• Utilize the member network for speaking engagements and support regional brand building to increase awareness
• Manage regulatory and legislative issues affecting the corrosion control community and develop key political relationships tied to those issues
• Deliver business development support and marketing campaigns aligned with regional goals

Requirements

• Engineering graduate/postgraduate/PhD
• MBA or a professional certification (for example, AMPP/NACE/SSPC) considered a significant advantage
• Strong managerial and administrative capabilities
• Effective communicator with strategic thinking and strong networking skills
• Financial acumen, including P&L understanding, budgeting, and forecasting
• Ability to adapt to industry dynamics, outreach, and multi-year planning
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, members, employees, customers, and the general public
• Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, and other figures
• Ability to work with fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, and to develop and interpret business graphs
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret instructions from written, verbal, diagram, or schedule formats
• Demonstrated personnel management skills, including evaluating staff performance and providing direction (highly desirable)
• Ability to work in a multi-task environment, communicate efficiently and accurately with both supervisors and subordinate staff, and manage external factors
• Computer literate with word processing and spreadsheet tools; ability to learn and use association-specific software

Travel & Logistics

• Less than 50% travel expected within India; passport required, mainly for USA travel

Education & Experience

• 10+ years of experience
• Engineering graduate/postgraduate/PhD required
